Marriage is not a strictly t religious institution. It should not be held to strictly religious principles. Banning gay marriage based on the religious views of some people makes no sense.

I realize that.

But again, religious views should not be the standard that all should be expected to be held to.  It makes no sense and marriage is not the same as Holy Matrimony, which is where the religious aspect should remain if people wish to force their religious views on to every one else.
