VIDEO: Girl Curses at Florida Judge at Hearing, Gets Sentenced to Extra 30 Days in Jail

After a Miami judge doubled 18-year-old Penelope Soto’s bond from $5,000 to $10,000, the teen seemed more than a little bit surprised.

“Are you serious?!” she exclaimed. The judge quickly responded, “I am serious. Adios.”

That’s when Soto, as she exited the court room, cursed at the judge and flashed him her middle finger. He called her back to verify what she had just said.

Once he did, she got what was likely the shock of her week when he said, “I find you in direct criminal contempt. Thirty days in the county jail.”

Soto was originally arrested for illegal possession of anti-anxiety medication.

"Her first mistake in court was not taking the proceeding seriously. She also didn't answer his question in regards to the worth of her possessions. You could tell by the way the judge said, "bye, bye" that he wasn't happy with her. When she said adios, she sounded like she was trying to be "cute." I don't think he should have raised her bail amount for saying adios, if that was his reasoning. He should have raised it earlier if he felt she had a lot of jewelery."

"It's common sense to be respectful to a judge, he has the power to do that sh*t."

It got reduced back to $5,000 but she still has to serve the 30 days. If she completes a rehab program her case will be dismissed.
