S/O Non-Religious Reasons Against Same Sex Marriage
I am wondering if anyone here is against SSM for purely non-religious reasons, & if so, would be willing to share those reasons.
I am for either legalizing SSM or getting rid of US marriage for all couples & the US only recognizing civil unions for both straight & gay couples. I strongly support the US Constitution, including the Establishment Clause, & I don't think that religion should be used to infringe on the rights of our citizens.
I have no issue with SSM and agree that if the word is the problem, then civil unions for all are the way to go. I would like to hear some non-religious arguments against it, though.
My father is against gay men more than gay women. He isnt religious at all I really think they jar on his nerves being so effeminate. He was bought up in a culture where men were well men, the protectors of the house and family...he sees effeminate men as less than.
He couldnt care less about whether or not they got married or lived next to him...so probably not an answer to your question ...sorry.
I am for same-sex marriage.
I only know one stupid "non-religious" reason against the same sex marriage: child-bearing and child-rearing.
The Most Compelling Arguments Against Legalizing Gay Marriage
Changing that understanding has been seen, in many quarters of society, as a threat to marriage itself, and, with it, a threat to society’s capacity to renew itself generation after generation. Same-sex marriage, some would and did argue, was nothing less than a suicide pact for humanity.

Article about this topic.
That has to be the most ridiculous argument ever...for one, the human race is in no way close to extinction...and for two, if childbearing is considered 'necessary' to marriage, then infertile people and childless-by-choice people should be barred from marriage as well...also, it would completely invalidate adoption as an option for anyone...

Child bearing and child rearing shouldn't be an issue. With advanced medicine and so many kids ready for adoption, SS couple can always have kids. And no gays doesn't walk around spreading "gay disease"
Legalization of SSM doesn't effect the growth of population LOL
