Teen Jailed After Flipping Off Judge

MIAMI, Fl. — A Miami teenager has been sentenced to 30 days in jail after flipping off a judge during her court hearing.

Penelope Soto, 18, was in court for a bail hearing on a drug possession charge.

Soto repeatedly laughed at the judge during the hearing, clearing irritating him.

He was initially going to hold her on $5,000 bail, but then raised it to $10,000.

Soto then flipped him off and blurted an expletive as she walked away.

In return, the judge then ordered her held in contempt of court and sentenced her to 30 days in jail.

Do you think the Judge was on target?

Some how, I do not think this young girl will get the message.

I would be mortified if my child ever ended up in jail for any reason, add in acting like this girl and truly not having the capacity to realize what she has done, showing absolute pure disrespect for herself and others.........I can't imagine.

I don't know if she'll learn from it, but, I saw the video and she deserved it. That judge was awesome.

Actions have consequences and hers resulted in jail time. I don't care if she gets it or not.

While teens are pretty good at only seeing things in black&white, the fact is that in a court of law a judge is the embodiment of that court.

Flipping off the judge isn't a personal attack, it's an attack on the meaning and authority of the entire court system.

Yes, contempt of court sentences are on target. Of course this twit will not 'get the message.'

I Think it was a fair sentence but that many are too broken for jail to ever fix.
