WA Dems Sponsor Bill Allowing Police To Search Gunowners’ Homes

In a mistake that probably wasn’t a mistake, a Washington state bill sponsored by liberal Democrats contained a little-noticed provision that would have called for the police to have the right to search private citizens’ home once per year if they own certain types of guns. According to Senate Bill 5737:

In order to continue to possess an assault weapon that was legally possessed on the effective date of this section, the person possessing shall … safely and securely store the assault weapon. The sheriff of the county may, no more than once per year, conduct an inspection to ensure compliance with this subsection.

In other words, kiss the Fourth Amendment goodbye. Liberal lawmakers behind the bill claim they have no knowledge of the provision – which, of course, begs the question as to how the provision got into the bill in the first place. “I have to admit it shouldn’t be in there,” said Sen. Ed Murray (D-Seattle). “I made a mistake,” said Sen. Adam Kline (D-Seattle). “I frankly should have vetted this more closely.”

The issue doesn't matter.  NO cops should be breaking into ANY homes for any reasons.  They need warrants!

Is it close to the world conservatives created where a cop broke into a gay couple's home and arrested them for breaking the sodomy laws because he heard men having sex when he stood and listened outside the door? I think it was Texas and it was surprisingly recent.
Good old sodomy laws. Remind me how those keep the government out of my life.

Lord, Almighty.

Bye, bye Bill of Rights!

In Indiana, the police can already enter against your will.  You can sue them afterward, but you are "not allowed" to resist them or impede their entrance INTO your home.

I hope all you liberals love the nation you are creating.  One World Government with complete control of the citizens is on the way!

exactly how are they going to know what kind of guns we have? None of them are registered. On purpose. Registration is how they know where to go get the guns.

What does that mean ?...."none of them are registered" ? Are you saying that nobody's guns in the USA are registered?

Are you kidding me?

 LOL,  she probably does.

Good one!

Quoting LauraKW:

You think Obama is going to write an executive order for the state of Washington?

Quoting Billiejeens:

You think that clause wrote itself in, somebody thinks it is a good idea.

They are pushing the envelope, today they got caught, next time, who knows, maybe the little dictator simply issues an executive order as he likes to do.

Maybe you are dense, one of my bigest flaws is I tend to think more of people than I should.

Quoting JakeandEmmasMom:

Given the number of times I've gone against my better judgment and responded to you, sometimes I wonder the same thing.

This bill would be pretty cut and dry.  Apparently that portion has even been taken out already.  Much ado about nothing.

Quoting Billiejeens:

Sometimes I wonder if you simply play dumb.

Any law is constitutional if 5 of the 9 Justices say it is.

Quoting JakeandEmmasMom:

In what way did I prove your point? One deals with the ability of congress to levy taxes, the other deals with search and seizure laws. These are very different principles.

Quoting Billiejeens:

 Thanks for proving my point!

Quoting JakeandEmmasMom:

On the contrary. According to the SCOTUS it can. There are few restriction on congress' ability to levy taxes, unfortunately.

Quoting Billiejeens:

Being taxed on something that you don't buy could never be law either right?

Quoting JakeandEmmasMom:

Waste of time. It would never withstand constitutional scrutiny. Citizens do not give up their right to privacy simply because of things they own.
