College: Fire professor who forced students to vote for Obama
A tenured professor who forced her students
to sign pledges that they would vote for President Barack Obama last November should be fired, the college’s
president recommended.
Sharon Sweet, an associate professor of mathematics at Brevard Community College in Florida, is guilty of electioneering, harassment, and incompetence, according to a three-month investigation into her classroom behavior leading up to the November election.
The Board of Trustees will hold a hearing on the matter, and then vote on whether to adopt President James Richey’s recommendation that Sweet be fired.
She needs to be fired. This has no place in a classroom, especially a math classroom.
I doubt she was in a union. The article state she was/is a tenured professor. That makes the process of removing her from her position more difficult.
Quoting candlegal:No she doesn't. I wonder if she is in a union?
Quoting IhaveHisjoy:Paid leave??? She doesn't deserve pay, imo!
Quote:
In the eyes of the college, Sweet clearly created a hostile environment for students, since many feared their grades would be affected if they did not sign the pledge
Quoting 4music:While i agree that the teacher should lose her job if the accusations are found to be true, she did not actually force students to vote for Obama.
Normally I disagree with a majority of what you post, but the professor's job is to teach math. Using your students to push your political views is wrong. Yes she should be let go.
yes it does
