punishing a whole group for one's actions

My daughter came home and told me that they were now only allowed to use the restroom during class once a week. Uhhh...what? Apparently a kid urinated all over the mirrors in the boy's bathroom and tore up the girl's bathroom, and all of the kids are being punished for it by being expected to somehow train their bodies to go once a day at lunch time.

I just told her that if she needs to go and gets told no to call me on her cell, and walk out of class to go.

I doubt that can stand.  I would be on the phone to the school.

Eh, I'm not one to pitch a fit. I just told her to walk out if she has to go and gets told no, and call me on her cell phone. If that happens before this blows over, I will go to the school and deal with it.

It wasn't the teacher who made the goofy rule. It was the principal. I think it only applies to the 4th and 5th grades.

Then I would call the principal, and then the area supervisior.   They may need a hall monitor or someone in the restrooms..

This is exactly what I would do. If they have a problem with it they can take it up with me and my pediatrician.

I'd tell my kids to sit there and piss their pants in the classroom...just for spite.

I'd be calling the school. I'm not one to make a fuss either, but I also wouldn't want to put the pressure on my 9 or 10 yo to make the stand - and having to do it in front of their class.

But I would make it clear that if any child, not just mine, needed to use the bathroom, they should and would be allowed to go.
