I am am all for the rights of the LGBT community. However, in this situation I am totally against allowing a biological boy to use the girls restroom. The parents decision to raise the child as a girl should not impact other students. The fact is, this child is a boy until he is medically changed to a girl.. I do not want a BOY in the bathroom with my daughter. Period. What if he decides to show someone his 'goods'? Kids do the strangest things..One families personal decision should not impact the entire school..

So we now have boys who think their girls and vice versa. Just before puberty, they must tak hormones, testosterone or whatever to force their bodies to go through puberty as the one they want to be.  (not at all sure that's a great idea)

Anyone else wonder if all the hormones, etc. they give feed animals and the junk they put in/on our food may be causing some of this?

The kid was 4 when he wanted to go tos dr to be fixed so that he could be a girl. I'm not sure if a 4 y o would say that. It sounds like parents coached him

So he has some sort of chromosomal problem.

Quoting delilahsmom1177:

Chromosomes get mixed up. Things happen. Gender is up to the individual.

Quoting TranquilMind:

Gender is determined at conception.  This seems to be such a difficult concept.  I don't that.  XX Chromosomes = girl.  XY = boy.

Pretty simple grade-school biology.

From a simple Science site:

Men determine the sex of a baby depending on whether their sperm is carrying an X or Y chromosome. An X chromosome combines with the mother's X chromosome to make a baby girl (XX) and a Y chromosome will combine with the mother's to make a boy (XY).

Quoting delilahsmom1177:

IN Sweden they send birth anouncments with the name weight etc... not gender. In AMerica we have oh well this one wants to know and what clor should we paint the nursry. How about this. you paint a netural color until they pick one. And I;m sorry but gender is all in the mind to me.

Quoting TranquilMind:

 LOL.

Ok.  Right.  We will simply all pretend babies are born genderless now.

I don't think that's going to go over too well with curious Moms and Dads, decorators, Grandparents, clothing makers....etc etc

Quoting delilahsmom1177:

HOw about...it's a healthy baby... and not shove gender down their throats,

Quoting TranquilMind:

 Lol.

Birth today:

Midwife..."Oh, you have a beautiful little girl!"

Mom and Dad...."Awww.!"

Birth in the near future:

Midwife:

"Oh...you've given birth to a beautiful little.....um, baby.   It LOOKS like a girl, but we don't really know, because modern "wisdom" dictates that kids themselves are in the best position to decide what gender they want to be sometime in the future....so....I hope you enjoy raising it.  And let me know in a few years what it is, k???? "

Quoting delilahsmom1177:

Sorry I do not agree.

Quoting TranquilMind:

 Penis= boy

Doctor/midwife calls it when the baby comes out.

Oh, yeah...let's just go genderless, huh?  Maybe we can go one step further and dress the kids up as girls or boys on certain days of the week and ask them which gender they plan on pursuing.

Quoting Luv.My.Kidz:

I honestly don't care which way the cookie crumbles... if the child lives, eats, breathes as the opposite in my mind, they are. People need to get this "black & white" or "Girl or Boy" mentality out of their minds.

Quoting ReginaStar:

Would the above reactions be different if it was a born female child who lived a male? Would you also support a 5 yr old boy with a vagina in the boys restroom?

I've read a few articles that actually suggested `stopping' puberty for their gender assigned at birth and then giving hormones to jump-start the puberty corresponding to their gender of `choice'.  What??  I find this disturbing.  Denying natural puberty?  Bad idea.  What if when puberty hits, these kids `feel' like what they were born as in the first place.   If it's preempted how will they ever truly know?

YIKES, why would anyone think that's a good idea. And here I thought the idea of "you can be whatever you want to be" referred to the type of occupation one might pursue upon reaching adulthood.

What if he does? I find that very unlikely. I'm more likely to believe that little girls asked to see it because it is different but they could happen in any part of the school. And if a young girl child sees a penis, are we to expect her to want one herself, become a slut that day, ask her mom uncomfortable questions? What are we really afraid of with two six year olds here? Curiosity isn't evil, sex isn't evil and curiosity about sex isn't evil.

If I were faced with this, I would start lying and saying my child was a female, period. Call the penis a birth defect if you must because my child is a girl.

I can only imagine, the only way my son could be more of a boy is if he bled motor oil. There is a different between transsexual and being a tomboy or being a sissy. The world is moving on, get out of the way or be run over.

Maybe if gender was allowed to be seen as the fluid it really is, people might stop trying to enforce rigid stories on both genders and we could be a world full of human beings instead of a world of men and all of those other strange people (ie women, gay men, gay women, transsexual and hermaphrodite). In this world we have always seen the male sex as the best thing to be and we are all to emulate it if we want to succeed. Lets hope it is time to move past that.

So lets sacrifice another child because of the what ifs.  The what ifs, mind you, that are self absorbed and reflect only the worry over your own  situation.  Don't we as a society need to worry about all children, not just yours?

Not only that, isnt it true that the same can happen with the girls in the restroom?  Children are curious, curiosity doesn't just happen with one sex.  Teach them what they need to know, then you should be able to rest easy.

Not allowing a child to express themselves how they need to is wrong, its especially wrong when a person chooses to allow this because of their own messed up worries. Oh no my daughter might see a penis versus a vagina- really? Better watch out many states are passing laws to allow a child to use what sex rest room they identify with, so you may have to deal and teach your child compassion to others lives.
