I do not get how Congress could have a 12% approval rating and still most were re- elected- it defies the odds beyond Obama being re-elected.

I wish we the people could fire them.

Quoting mehamil1:

Why haven't we fired all these people yet? What will it take for 315 million people to tell 535 people to fuck off?

People hate what is happening but don't have the guts or wherewithal to vote beyond the R or D boxes?

We can. It's called voting for minor "third" parties. There are easily two dozen nation wide covering the full spectrum of political beliefs. Takes some work to find their candidates because they don't have budgets for billboards and TV but they are out there.

I really, really, really wish you would stop saying the lie that almost everyone who voted for Obama did it for the freebies, because every freaking time I hear that, I wonder what the frack I am doing working 2 jobs just to get further in debt! Just about everyone I know that voted for him has a job or is going to school to get better jobs. I don't get any kind of PA but according to you and people like you, I'm just a mooching American with my hand out because I didn't want to give Romney my vote, and I'm sick of it, just like many others are. Yes, some people need help, but I hate to break it to you but just about every poor person I know works and are not the leeches that some people like to portray them as. We work just as hard as anyone else, but we don't have the advantages that others do.

Quoting Naturewoman4:

You're right eemagray.  I also believe that in order for Americans to vote out both Dems. & Reps., because imo they don't have the best interest for this Country.  We MUST vote outside of those parties.  To get change, that this Country desperately needs.  Maybe, if we continue to do this, we will finally get this change.  But, with Obama this Country was doomed.  When a Politician is going to offer Americans all these 'freebies', how can we fight against that.  Romney had no chance.  I think, & it's only my opinion, that Romney was the best Candidate we have seen in a very, very long time.

Since, Clinton.  I believe then & I still believe, that Romney was our only chance to turn things around for America & Americans.  He was imo, the only choice of ALL the candidates to best get jobs back here in this Country.  Was he perfect no, but neither Reagan or Clinton was & I think they did a really good job.  Should be pretty much on top of the list of our best Pres.  Obama, imo, should be basically on the bottom.

Quoting eema.gray:

I voted Libertarian. I can't possibly expect or hope for legitimate change unless I vote out of the box provided by the RNC and DNC.

Quoting Naturewoman4:

Yes.  What I believe is, if one doesn't believe either candidate has our best interest in mind as a Country, then those people should vote for another party.  But, obviously this is not what happen in this last election.  It is my belief that Obama won solely because he offered all those 'freebies' & that's what the majority of Americans wanted.  I mean hell, what 45M?  Are receiving FS now since Obama took office.

Why would those 45M not vote for Obama?  They want to continue receiving those 'freebies'.  IMO A LOT not all, want to continue that way for the rest of their lives.  Then, the children they raise carry on in the same manner.  The cycle continues.  But, this time under Obama we have the majority of Americans doing this.  Sad.  I'm neither Dem. or Rep.  I'm registered Nonpartisan.  Some yrs. I have voted Dem. & some Rep.  This yr's election I sincerely feel that Romney was the one that would get us back on track.  His experience in business, I truly felt he would get Americans back to work.  Would he be perfect, no.  But, IMO he was WAY WAY more experience than Obama is or ever will be.  If I didn't like either parties candidates, I would of not voted for Dem. or Rep.  It's on principal because I would think that they both are not deserving to be our Pres.

Quoting eema.gray:

Romney was only more of the same.

Poster below you is more of the mind that we should stop voting entirely for Republicans and Democrats. Vote in the minor party candidates whose views are less influenced by big business and special interest groups and more informed by the actual needs of the people they desire to represent.

Quoting Naturewoman4:

Exactly!!  That's what I liked about Romney.  Because, he wanted to help people be independant & have pride in themselves.  He wouldn't of cut people off that are truly in need.  But, he had the experience & I was VERY confident in his abilities to get America back to work.  People would start having pride in themselves, because THEY can provide for their families.  Our youth would get off the streets & have work.  They would see a better way to live their lives.  That's what Romney wanted!!

That's NOT what Obama wanted!!  That's is why Obama won, because HE KNEW he would get the votes.  All he had to do is give out all those 'freebies'.  Making Americans depended on Gov.  Sad that our Pres. couldn't run on his record, experience & know how.  Sad we live in a Country like this.  Makes me wonder what is going to happen when we elected the next Pres.  Is there going to just be another Dem. that will follow in Obama's footsteps in HOW he won?  Or are we going to be lucky & have a candidate like Romney, that will lead this Country back again!  Or is this Country going to just elect say a Biden, that will offer the same things that Obama did.  We are certainly doomed if this happen!  But, imo, we are already doomed.

Quoting glitterteaz:

Now that is the question of the day. And why can't their life time pay for not working be ended. That should put a good sized dent in the deficit!

2 moms liked this

It's pretty simple.   Most people are happy with their own Congressman.   It is the others that are terrible.

As long as it's your congressman, his or her sh@! doesn't stink. I think I get it.

Thank you for your thoughtful, well-written, and refreshing reply, gludwig2000. But you see, all the "better than thou" voices coming from this group have never been in a place of need. So they can't relate. And they can't understand why anyone in this world would want to think any differently than they do. Maybe this video will prove instructional.

You know what's funny about that "cut big oil subsidies" is that people would scream bloody murder when the gas prices then went up $0.25 a gallon.

then there's the increase in food prices because it now is more expensive to get things to your neighborhood store.

Typical profit on oil and gas sales is 8-12% for the companies when they import/extract and refine the oil.

The government does ZERO to add value to the final product, yet they take a sizable "piece of the pie."

Who's the real "evil" their here????????????  the government.

Big oil pays NOTHING, understand NOTHING in taxes.  Companies are given tax breaks to outsource to other countries.  You are OK WITH THAT?  There needs to be MORE regulations on big oil and also how they screw us, even when they are getting a free ride. Regulate the price of oil, give THEM the screws. I am sick of MY family having to pay out and get hurt.

Nothing??  Humm,  can you enlighten me then on why Forbes says oil companies do pay them?  In fact, Forbes says they pay a lot.

I don't even have to look at the link to know that the Government gets more money from the oil companies for doing absolutely nothing than the oil companies get. The rate of return is very low.

Some posters just hit and run - they have no clue.
