Well, I'm a dirty socialist/anarchist/communal-tribal-small-scale-utopiast, so I obviously think this is fucked.

No one holds a trillion and you know that.

But you are just greedy and selfish if you think people should have to pay 75-80-90% of what they earn a year because you think it is too much.

Why don't you give 50% or more and simplify your life.  You don't need most of what you have.  Think of everyone you can help if you give 50% of your money to charity every year!

Quoting mehamil1:

Do you realize were talking about the ultra rich? Those few people, the 0.0001% who hold a trillion dollars. We're talking about them. Not your daddy with his 7 figures. That's chunk change compared to these people. And they did not "earn" it. No one can physically earn that kind of money. They got it through gaming the system utilizing our own government ad the tax laws. They got it by taking from the mouths of those at the bottom. Those at the very top. they are the epitome of greed. They are the ones who should be handing over 75% of what they "earn". No one should be allowed to control that amount of money and resources.

Quoting talia-mom:

Wow, or other people could stop expecting the rich to pay for them.

Jesus, my daddy makes 7 figures a year and you think he should pay 75% of what he earns?   He freaking works 12-15 hours days for months on end and he is selfish for having money he can spend in the down time?

Quoting mehamil1:

I saw this on facebook.

When wealth is concentrated at the very top like it is today, lots of bad shit happens. Those at the very top could pay 70% or 75% of the money they "earn" and still live a life of luxury we can only dream of.

I saw it.  Yep, the middle class isn't paying 30% in taxes.

And even if they were, capital gains aren't income.   They are a huge part of what makes this country function.  I couldn't have started my company that employs people without the capital gains I had.

Quoting brookiecookie87:

Are you in denial now?

The bracket % are right there. You can look them up your self if you want.

Yep, the middle class doesn't pay 30% in taxes.

Thanks.

Federal Income Tax Brackets for 2012

Tax Bracket Married Filing Jointly Single
10% Bracket $0 – $17,400 $0 – $8,700
15% Bracket $17,400 – $70,700 $8,700 – $35,350
25% Bracket $70,700 – $142,700 $35,350 – $85,650
28% Bracket $142,700 – $217,450 $85,650 – $178,650
33% Bracket $217,450 – $388,350 $178,650 – $388,350
35% Bracket Over $388,350 Over $388,350

According to both GOP/ Demo's Middle Class runs to 250,000.  That's 30 %.

There you go again the straw man tactics. I NEVER said everyone should be paid equal. Just that the Ultra Rich shouldn't be paying half of what middle class does and less than what the people in the bottom brackets pay.

Quoting talia-mom:

And I changed it to say middle class sweetie.  They don't pay 30% of their income in federal taxes.

So once again, you are incorrect in saying those that live off capital gains pay way less than everyone else.

They don't.

But if you want to make everything equal, I am good with all people paying 25% in federal income taxes and no refunds or deductions.

Quoting brookiecookie87:

So you are going to tell me that no one pays between 30-35% while people who are in the Ultra rich pay between 10-15%?

You will notice that I said middle class. Please don't switch my words to try and make a statement I never made.

Quoting talia-mom:

No one should get money back.   What you pay is what you pay and it funds the government that so many depend on.

The poor people you are defending do not pay federal rates twice what the richest people do and it is lie to say so.

Quoting brookiecookie87:

Is that your strawman tactic? Cling to the argument that no one is making?

No one has suggested that the rich need to pay at least 50% or more. Again. I am just saying they shouldn't be paying lower than the people in the bottom brackets.

Being rich doesn't make them above what other people have to pay.

Have you ever stopped to wonder why people get money back?  Should we just say, "Screw em" And let the poorer and middle class slip further and further away?  And let's not forget the middle class. Not all of them get money back (Depending where they are). And some of them pay tax rates twice as high as people at the very top.

Why should the people at the very top get to pay a tax rate that is half of what the people in the middle pay?

So you are against billionairism. You do not want anybody to have a billion dollars.
Tell me, at what point does wealth pass into the realm of unacceptable evileness? At what net worth should a wealthy person quit expanding their assets?

They stole it through our own government from the people at the bottom.

0.001% of the population of the US holds over a trillion dollars. That's like...300 people or less. You know that's what I was talking about. You know I wasn't talking about one single person so don't pretend like I was.

If I made that kind of money, you bet your ass I'd be handing over that amount. Even if I wasn't being taxed at that rate, I'd be giving the rest of it away. Stephen King and his wife do that because they do not feel they are being taxed enough. As does Warren Buffet.

As for this last paragraph, you don't know me from Adam. You don't know squat about what I do. You truly do not. I try to be as respectful as possible to you and others and I do not appreciate this at all.

Because I don't find 6 figures to be middle class.  If you do, okay.   But I think it upper middle class.

Capital gains aren't income.   Income is what is earned from working.  I am sorry you don't understand that.

The wealth inequality in this country has gotten to the point of evilness. We are already here.

I personally would cut if off at 25 million. Anything you make after that would be taken in taxes and reinvested in the people, into education, into science, into infrastructure, into research, into getting us to the stars.

But alas, I am not the benevolent dictator.

Im sure we could set a number if there was true discussion.

I find it morally reprehensible to have an individual that controls more wealth than they could reasonably need or spend in a lifetime when people are going hungry. *shrug* that's just my moral compass, though.
