Is calling your father Daddy or calling your mother Mommy a childish thing?

I was told calling my Daddy that name was childish.

Why is Daddy childish but Papa, Dad, Dadu etc isn't.

Well I was adopted so I always called my "Dad" by his first name until I got older. I call him Dad now.
:-)

My kids call their Dad "Dad" & "Daddy" depending on their moods.
Honestly when they get to a certain age I think Dad will be it.

I my own opinion older girls calling their Father "daddy" is weird.

Why is it weird?   He's my Daddy and always will be.

I don't get how some name is only acceptable as long as you are under 6

I call my biological father 'daddy'.

It isn't up to others to determine if that is childish or tell me what to call family members. I also say aunt (a:nt) not ant but what does it matter if someone says ant it had no bearing on anyone but that person.

I do think calling your Mom and Dad "Mommy or Daddy" as an adult is childish.  All I can picture are women trying to get something from their dads by whining "daddy", or grown men who never grow up.  It makes me cringe.

My dad is Dad or Pa (that's what the grands call him). We never called our dad, "daddy."

Different strokes I guess- I am a grown woman and do not need or want a "daddy."

Why is Dad better than Daddy?

My 66 yr old MIL still refers to her deceased father as her "daddy".

I don't think what you call people in terms of endearment matter at all.

I don't think it's childish. I believe it's an endearing name.

I don't care what someone else calls their Dad, but in our family Daddy is for babies & toddlers.   Same with Mommy and Mom.   It just is.
