Do you think that it is morally wrong, in an attempt to control the amphibian population, to drown tadpoles?

Did they eat each other, as they sometimes do? That might make you an accessory to murder :)

the tree frogs used my hen and chicks like a singles timeshare all last summer. There was at least three of four of them in there at time.

At least two of them managed to wiggle into the aquarium gravel in a way that they got stuck and apparently drowned (OP...LOL), a couple just disappeared (and now thanks to you I probably know why!) and then the last two went missing after we accidentally picked up a minnow hitch hiker in the pond water we used to refresh the tank.
