So DH and I are eating at this AMAZING hibatchi grill in town, and we are the only other family here.
The kid of the other family is out of control! He's banging on the plate with the chopsticks, the forks and spoons, getting up and running around, you name it. And he's probably about six years old! What are the parents doing about it?
NOTHING!
I figure, since one hot topic is parenting, what are your thoughts on parents who do nothing about their kid?

They said nothing at all to him?  Made no attempt to have him stop what he was doing?

I'd secretly stick my food out and trip the kid...

Not cool.  And I'm more tolerant than the average person when it comes to kids in restaurants.  Often I think other people expect almost too much out of little ones in that situation.  BUT, running around a restaurant is a huge no-no.  There are waiters carrying hot food around, so it's definitely dangerous.

Never waste good food tripping a brat. Use your foot, instead. Lol

Nope. No attempt whatsoever. The dad seemed to encourage it, tbh. The mom just kind of ignored him.

Yup!

And OP, I totally would. Then I'd pick him up, dust him and tell him, "Be careful sweetie!! You don't want to get hurt or burned running around!"

While looking directly at the parents

I usually think that if they can't teach their kid basic manners and have no control over their behavior when they're little, those parents are in for some real fun times when the kid hits the teens.

Awful. These are the people who cause families that know how to behave at restaurants, who will enforce good behavior, to get bad reputations.
