Bottle feeding moms: You need to cover or leave when you feed your baby. BFing moms are welcome to stay. Update

She just got out of surgery. Baby girl had 3 big fillings, two caps in the back and they extracted all 4 of her upper front teeth. There wasn't enough left to even cap :-(

I swear to God this what my SIL was told today. She was outraged! But honestly I understand where the hospital is coming from.

It's a pediatric dental school, specialising in anesthesia. She made an appointment for her 2yo dd to have her teeth fixed, (poor baby has BAD bottle rot) Now because she's going to be put under, she won't be allowed to eat or drink anything after midnight. No food or drinks are allowed in the waiting room either. Too much temptation for the kids waiting. That means bottles also.

In an odd twist, any siblings with bottles will be asked to drink them outside or be covered with a light blanket away from view. Breastfed siblings are welcome to stay and nurse in the room.

After hearing the news she asked how is she supposed to do this?? Her 4 month old hates being covered and it's going to be a huge hassle is she has to leave the room every time the baby wants a bottle. Plus take care of a cranky 2yo on top of it.

It's okay though. I offered to spend the night at her house the night before and stay with 4 month old dd.

Not only would it suck for her, I wouldn't want 2yo dd to see a bottle and not be able to have one :-/

Walking out of a room is a 'huge' hassle?

Imagine what living through a hurricane would be classifed as :D

Hmm. Well she now has a bit of an idea of how it is for bf mom's when they're told they shouldn't bf in a public place but should go outside, to their car, to the restroom, etc.
