What are your thoughts on New Wave Feminist? Basically, they are pro-life feminists.

Can it be possible for someone to be actively be/vote against abortion (a woman's right), and be a feminist as well?

I don't mean someone who is personally against abortion, but doesn't care what others do. I am talking about women who are against abortion being legal, which takes away a womans right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, but say they are for womens rights, a feminist.

Wow.....Ummm yea. I just looked at the site. I don't even know what to call it but they call normal feminist fake. They don't even grasp how powerful women's access to BC. I'm just blown. The first thing they say is we traded womanhood for BC pills.( Girl stop!) So they are against reproductive freedoms and promote modesty but they are okay with all other aspects of feminism.

I had to laugh at the empowered by birth picture. Birth is certainly NOT empowering to a woman who did not wish to go through it.

you hit the nail right on the head.

It's probably a group of fundies trying to recruit by saying 'hey, look we're feminists too, it's what all the cool kids are doing.'

Quoting autodidact:

oh I bet it will : )

Quoting ashellbell:

No. Will it piss me off?

Quoting autodidact:

did you look at their site? I'm just trying to figure out where the feminism is.

Quoting ashellbell:

Sure. All feminists aren't the same.

what do you mean? it just DID.

that's not an answer to what I asked.

Quoting Billiejeens:

Chances are very slim that will ever happen, I'll let you know if it does.

Probably the same way that Christians that support  SSM are  Christians.

no, it's not. I asked what makes them feminists, you assumed I'm saying being pro-life disqualifies them from the title.

also: christians who support SSM are just saying THEIR beliefs shouldn't dictate the lives of others, they are letting people making their own choices.

the NWF want to deny people the right to make their own choices.

I know many pro-life feminists. I am not one (I don't identify with feminism, although I appreciate some of the movement's achievements). Many I know believe that we as women should not be putting ourselves into situations where an abortion would be necessary - or at least lessening the possibility of having to get one. As a person who refrained from sex during my fertile periods for years to avoid pregnancy, and as a person who years before that became pregnant due to irresponsible sexual decisions, I can understand that belief. I also know why people don't agree with that.

I've always been under the impression that both feminism and abortion are full of nuance. I don't see why pro-life and feminism have to be mutually exclusive.
