mexican-barbie-chihuahua

A new Mexican Barbie in Mattel’s “Dolls of the World” series has sparked outrage for what opponents argue is an offensive depiction of Mexican culture.

Quoting LindaClement:

The problem with the idea of having 'contemporary images' of the countries today is that 100% of the 'countries of the world Barbies' will look like this:

Seriously? If all the dolls come with one (which makes sense as they are from differnt countries I mean how else are they gonna visit each other?) then whats the issue?
The traditonal dress is to show the roots.

If all the Dolls of the World have a passport I don't see the problem.

Exactly

Quoting SuperChicken:

If all the dolls in the Dolls of the World Collection come with a passport, wouldn't it be more offensive for the Mexican one to not have passport?

People just like to get pissy, and they're going to find something to be pissy about even if they have to make it up.

Am I the only Mexican that thought "how cool, viva la raza!". Instead of "im offended".

 You're right! She did.

My aunt has that doll -- she keeps it as a collector's item.

False:

She said "math is hard"

Quoting MsDenuninani:

Every generation of women needs a new reason to hate Barbie.

When I was growing up, it was the fact that the black barbie doll's features looked nothing like the features of actual black women.  Then, at some point, it became Barbie's ridiculous proportions.  Also, I remember there was once a Barbie doll that said "I hate math." It was recalled after some amount of outrage.

Barbie can never get it right, can she?

Ooooh the Social Justice Warriors will have a field day over the sterotypes presented in the dolls.

Wow. Serious overreaction. Mexico Barbie is fine. Those that CHOOSE to offended have some real issues.
