Shop that sold guns to Nancy Lanza had 500 violations

Riverview Gun Sales had license revoked after Sandy Hook

EAST WINDSOR, Conn. — An attorney for a Connecticut gun shop that legally sold weapons to the Newtown school shooter's mother years ago says federal authorities didn't think violations warranted revoking the owner's license until after the massacre.

Robert Altchiler, attorney for Riverview Gun Sales in East Windsor, said Thursday that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was discussing a temporary shutdown of the store last year. He says the revocation came about a week after the massacre in which Adam Lanza killed 20 first-graders and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

An ATF spokeswoman had no immediate comment.

The documents accuse Riverview of committing more than 500 violations and say the licensee received 11 instances of instruction from ATF dating back to 2004 on how to comply with federal firearms laws.

This is the same agency that gave guns to cartels and got Americans killed. The ATF isn't exactly effective in the way that was intended. Part of the solution to ovehauling the nics system and making existing gun laws work is a total revamp of the ATF. There is no way around it but the govt chooses to ignore the issues the ATF has and blame legal gun owners. Funny how their agency is never to blame.

We really should amend the ATF's policies and procedures so they're more effective and efficient.

yes, they certainly shouldn't be giving stores 500 chances to comply.

Oh, they are to blame, they just won't ever be held accountable just like Eric Holder.

Which violations were there?

Using an older form when new forms were created but never mailed out to dealers until 6 months later when another revision of the form was being created? Used black ink pen in an area where they wanted blue?  Used FFL Stamp but signature was not within 3" of stamp line even though signature line is 4" below on the form?  Bound book was hand written and contained more than 5 allowed ink smudges per page?  Those type of vioations?

This totally crossed my mind. Was it the little stupid shit that doesn't matter at all or REAL violations. Folks who don't have to deal with this bs don't get all the little stuff that can lead to a violation.
