Should the goal of religious charities be to convert lost souls or help the poor?

Thoughts?

How far you go in life depends on your being: tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of both the weak and strong.  Because someday in life you would have been one or all of these.  GeorgeWashingtonCarver

Help the poor, although converting people through their acts of kindness and generosity could be a byproduct.

Who decides whose "souls" are "lost?"

If they're religious based, owned and operated then they can do as much of both as they want!

I would think that through their acts of charity and helping they are more likely to convert people. *Most* people are  turned off by words and preaching and turned-to acts and deeds.

*I hope that makes sense, I haven't had any coffee yet.

There are very few things that disgust me as much as missionaries or religious charities that prey on the weak by using their resources to convert them! If they can't help without strings attached, they shouldn't!

Help the poor I am sure by their actions more people would be willing to convert.
