Automated equipment

So my city no longer uses a trash crew to collect garbage, we now have several automated trucks that do it with hydraulic arms and the driver is the only guy.

Well,  These trucks spew hydraulic oil which is incredibly expensive and poor for the environment.

What are we gaining?

How far you go in life depends on your being: tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of both the weak and strong.  Because someday in life you would have been one or all of these.  GeorgeWashingtonCarver

It saves money and we all know money is more important than anything else.

They obviously need to be serviced, they should not be spewing hydraulic fluid. That's the system we have as well, and our trucks don't leak fluid.
