Can children be inherently evil?

Have you ever looked into the eyes of a child under the age of ten only to see what appears to be evil? Is it just me?

No, but I have looked at a few young children under ten who I knew would grow up to be criminals.

All children are evil. Anything that starts out waking their parents every two hours a night, then grows into something that throws the most embarrassing tantrum in the grocery store because they can't take the bread ties off of all the bread is evil. EVIL.

I don't think so. But I do think it takes very little conditioning to turn them evil.

I don't know if I've seen evil, but I have seen pure malice.  It might be the pre-curser to evil.

This. I had a student who would laugh when he got in troublel, and he got in trouble often. He would do something mean and smile. I didn't see him as evil so much as a future criminal.

Children are egocentric, so yes. We teach our children to have a conscience.
