If you were in a public place .........

Would you feel comfortable with this man being ten feet away from you and your family? If not, what would you do?

Would you call the police?

....I am only responsible for what I say,NOT for what you understand.....

We (DH and I) would not be comfortable and we'd leave.

Too many people lack impulse control. If he feels so unsafe that he must carry a gun with him everywhere he goes, he's likely to be quick to use it. If your only tool is a hammer, every problem becomes a nail.

I respect and endorse his legal right to open carry. I would still be nervous because I don't know the man.

Someone who is openly carrying their gun for all to see is probably not a robber :P He is probably an off duty officer and will PROTECT you.

I'm far more scared of the guns hidden away.

Omg.. No. If I saw someone in the city with a gun on their hip, I would either assume they are an off duty cop (though they normally
Do not carry that out in the open) or a criminal. Most people do not carry guns in their hips where I live.

Quoting DestinyHLewis:

Criminals in your area carry a side arm in open view? That's kind of odd...

Quoting Debmomto2girls:

Where I live? I would get the hell out of there. Maybe in another area it is normal to see. Not where I live unless you are a criminal.

I would make me a little uncomfortable honestly.

Wouldn't bother me.

I'm far more concerned about concealed weapons than I am about unconcealed ones.

No offense but by your own testimony, you have issues. I don't think we can base our rights as citizens off of the irrational feelings of some people. KWIM?

no and I would leave.

His right to carry supercedes my right to feel safe apparently

Yes, that's absolutely correct.  Rights supercede feelings every time.

thanks... sooo.. I don't have a right to feel safe? awesome..

You have a right to feel whatever you want to until those feelings infringe on another's tangible right to bear arms.  Then you can leave.

So, his rights can infringe on mine, but not mine on his? cool.

If concealed or open carry were allowed, I would not think a thing of it. I'd not call the police, but I would sit far enough away that my kids couldn't attempt to disarm this guy too. I'm for concealed carry, not open.  Curious kids can always sneak up and turn a good situation into a bad one.
