I found them gem on buzzfeed last week, and I've been stuck on it ever since. I was kind of proud of myself, because a few of them on the list I've seen:

Funny Games (2007 remake)

Requiem for a Dream

Oldboy

Deliverance

House of Sand and Fog

Gummo

The Mist

The Killing Fields

Hostel: Part II

The Last House on the Left (original and 2009 remake)

Antichrist

What about you? Have you seen any of these movies? Do you WANT to see any of them (I'm going to see Dear Zachary as soon as I can.) Do you agree with Buzzfeed that these films can destroy your faith in humanity?

Of the ones listed, I've only seen The Mist, The Killing Fields and Deliverance with the last two of these three leaving me feeling very disturbed.

When I saw the title of this thread, my first immediate thought was "House of Sand and Fog better be on that list" and it is lol.

If you ever want to hate everyone and be depressed for a while, that's the movie to see.

I saw Requiem for a Dream and Deliverance.  Yeah, they really did about destroy whatever shreads of idealism I had left at my advanced age.

I loved both of them, though.

Only a part of the last house on the left. I can't watch gory/scary movies.

Gummo is an excellent film. It has lots of funny parts but it's pretty crazy.

There is another movie not on the list that should be there. It's called We Need To Talk About Kevin.

The only movie I've seen on that list is The Mist.

I've seen Requiem for a Dream. It really stuck with me.

None of the others. I can't watch those kind of movies. They really really bother me. I may watch House of Sand and Fog at some point, but none of the others.

Gummo scared the shit out of me. I saw it in my early 20s.

There's nothing "scary" in it. There's nothing "gory" or "gross".

It's just....................weird as fuck. lol And I think weird is creepier than any slasher movie.

I'll be looking into We Need to Talk About Kevin. I love Tilda Swinton.
