It's liberals that fight for Christian freedoms.

Posted by   + Show Post
It's those of us that believe in freedom of choice that are actually holding up religious freedoms. I feel the right wing groups would self implode with out those that believe in their right to be wrong.

I see better what you mean with this response you just gave.  I was looking at it kind of defensively I guess, when it wasn't written that way from you.  Thanks so much for re-clarifying!  Sometimes I feel like my brain is muddy...

Quoting FromAtoZ:

Quoting jcribb16:

"Everyone" contradicts with only speaking to believers' rights to live based on what God means to them, and what His Word says to them. So, actually it sounds like you are really only directing this towards Christians.  Thanks.

Quoting FromAtoZ:

Quoting jcribb16:

You make excellent points - are they directed to everyone?  Or towards a particular side?  :)

Quoting FromAtoZ:

There are many things people do that I disagree with, on a personal level.  There are many things people do that I disagree with, on a religious level.

As long as those people are not harming others, they are free to live their lives as they see fit.  As long as those people are not trying to force me to go along with what they are doing, they are free to do as they please.

Playing God by trying to force any one to think, feel or do as I do, or would do under any given circumstances, is wrong.

I can wholeheartedly disagree with many things throughout my life.  When I make the attempt to force another to follow behind me that is when I have over stepped.

It is not that hard to live your life according to how you believe, feel or otherwise with the knowledge and understanding that not every one else is going to believe, feel or do the same.  Nor should I expect the majority to.

Every one.

No laws should be made based on any biblical view or points.  It isn't  up to me to govern what another does according to what I may belief, in regards to religion.  It should not be up to any one to govern another based on any religious beliefs, regardless of the religion.

No, I am not.  Regardless of being Christian, Muslim, Jewish or otherwise, there should not be a single law based on those religions and the teachings thereof that is directed at every one.

I am a Christian.   How I live my life is my decision.  How another Christian lives their life is their decision.  I do not have the right to expect any one else to live their life according to how I interpret the Bible, how I believe, what I may believe God wants from me.  I most certainly could never stand behind laws that dictate another's life based on religion.

We are all free to live our lives per our religion.  As it should be.  Laws without religion do not restrict those who believe nor does it force those who do not.

You're welcome.  Sorry I wasn't clear the first time.  I also find myself sometimes brain muddy from time to time.......again and again. ;)

Because you are a homophob and a bigot if you think your opinion of homosexuality applies to anyone but yourself. You are welcome to do all of these things. you are not welcome to make everyone else listen to you while you do it. Why does this not make sense to you?

Homophobe is a trashy term used to insult Christians who embrace the moral teachings of Jesus. I do not support adultery. Mikiemom, according to your reasoning I'm an adulterphobe since I'm against adultery. Am I a polygamyphobe since I do not support multiple marriage partners? Why do you care if a person voices their opinions concerning homosexuality? If you were confident in your personal beliefs you would not feel threatened or intolerant of differing viewpoints~

Perhaps you are right blondekosmic, that is a trashy term, just like many terms discribing people that do not like others because of race, nationality..., religion, gender, loving someone of the same sex... I just call them all INTOLERENT.   And that IMO, is a sin, according to my beliefs.   And from what I read about Jesus, he would too.  In fact many Christians, (as I stated earlier) have told me if Jesus were alive today he would be a liberal.  He would be infact following OT Laws.   I am not intolerant of your beliefs BK unless you're trying to surpess mine, or take mine away, or perhaps make your religious beliefs into secular law.  This country is not a theocracy.  But I am sure you know that. And, I for one,  would love to keep it that way.

Tweety, I agree with you in part. Thank you for sharing your opinion. Yes, I believe unkind words & labels are sinful & offensive. The Christian faith teaches.. love thy neighbor as thyself. Share compassion with others, be sensitive & respectful. I do not believe Jesus asks us to be a doormat to those who are hateful & condescending. We pray for discernment. We respond accordingly. Do not judge according to race, religion, ethnicity, cultural differences etc. Just because a person voices concern about a particular way of life is not saying you don't like the individual. I'm referring to the homosexual lifestyle since this has been a primary topic of discussion lately. You can love your neighbor, have compassion for others even tho your faith teaches you certain choices are immoral & offensive to God. Love of God is essential to a close walk with our heavenly Father. True tolerance loves the person but may not accept the personal choices rendered by the individual. For ex....a close friend of mine engaged in an adulterous affair. I do not condone her actions but I continue to love her & cherish our friendship.

I'm a Christian.... therefore the Scriptures are a primary part of my life. The Bible teaches us sin deeply offends God. If I am silent about sinful behavior than I'm a hypocrite to God & to myself. A sign of weakness which awards the devil power over the person. I believe you are Jewish? You may not believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ nor the Holy Trinity but Christians who embrace the Sacred Scriptures do accept this doctrine. I have read & meditated upon the passion & death of Jesus many times esp during Lent. Jesus suffered tremendously for the sins of the flesh, including homosexuality. You may not accept this teaching but billions of Christians thru out the Centuries do. The Apostles warned about these sins. I believe abortion is murder. The Bible reveals God's love for each one of us including the child he forms in a mother's womb. To harm the weak & defenseless separates the person from God. Promotes a culture of death & disrespect for the sanctity of human life.

I disagree, if Jesus walked the earth today, he would not be a liberal. Liberalism supports immorality contrary to God's laws. Gay marriage & the homosexual lifestyle. Jesus will never condone homosexual acts. 2 men engaging in anal sexual relations & oral sex. 2 women having unnatural sexual relations with one another. Jesus was scourged bloody for these sins against the body, a temple of the Holy Spirit. Pornography is tolerated & acceptable for many. Liberalism compromises the Constitution & disrespects the rights of those who wish to practice their religion faithfully. Freedom of religion not freedom from religion as the left promotes. Liberalism supports/promotes the direct killing of the unborn child God creates in a mother's womb. If Jesus was a liberal, he would be a hypocrite to the Commandments & his own biblical teachings. I believe if the Apostles were alive today, they would be praying in front of the abortion clinics. Promoting human life & respect for the least amongst us. Liberalism does not reflect the social justice which Jesus taught in the Scriptures. Social justice today represents dependency upon the gov't, more gov't control, desprives the individual of self-respect & dignity. The 'gimme' generation rather than self-reliance, opportunity & prosperity. God blesses each one of us with specific talents. We suppress these talents & gifts when we rely upon the gov't to take care of us.

You may wish for a secular society. When God is pushed out, don't expect his graces when times are tuff.....

Do you believe that the only way is for all to live under the 'rules', if you will, set forth in the Bible, by Jesus?  That a true theocracy is what is needed to save all and bring upon yourself, and others, the true Grace of God?   Even those who believe differently that  you do.......they should adhere to the teachings you have been taught and believe in?

 I just have to say:

They're Liberals WHO fight for Christian freedoms.

Otherwise, I have no opinions about Christian freedoms.

I prefer to talk about all freedom, civil rights and choice.

How are those Liberals fighting for Christian freedoms, especially when a great many hate anything to do with God nor Christianity?

Are we talking about the same liberals that think the government is supposed to step in to every aspect of our lives?

I have no idea. The only reason I commented was to correct her grammar. You didn't notice ?
I said I have no opinion on Liberals or freedom.

So you came in to correct someone's grammar?  That's pretty rude. Not everyone thinks, speaks, spells, etc., the same.  You don't know where they have been in their lives school-wise, including the fact that people are not perfect, and have made, do make, and will make mistakes.  EVERYONE!
