The official complaint from the Paula Deen case...it's pretty awful.

This was WAAAAAAY more than a pre-civil war-themed wedding. Way more.

According to the complaint, not only are Paula and her brother, Bubba, overt racists, Bubba is an abusive drunk with a pornography addiction.

It's long, but I challenge anyone who isn't aware of the specifics of the complaint to read at least the first few pages  past the first few pages of legalize (since some can't think to do that on their own) and go to the details of the complaint. It's bad.

 LOL @ your avi.

I have zero interest in Ms Deen personally nor do I have cable TV so I don't watch the Food Network. A friend (a Georgia resident) posted the link and I read it out of curiosity.

I sense that people don't know the details of the complaint. If they did, they wouldn't be so quick to defend or dismiss Ms Deen's (and her brother's) behavior as a generational/cultural/occasional thing.

It's dispicable.

How exactly did they operate a successful business? Promoting a hostess and a food vendor to management seems odd to me...

Perhaps she needed to feed her family and lacked the skills to do anything else.

I am on page seventeen right now and all i keep thinking is paula deen and all her companies are FUCKED. All they have to do now is get all the employees and former employees and people who didn't even work for the company who she has named to speak on her behalf.

Yup - I think people fail to realize there was more to it all than Paula Deen just using the "N" word.  That is disgusting treatment of an employee and if she was treated like that, then I'm sure others were treated the same way.  I wouldn't be surprised if a class action lawsuit followed.

Thanks for sharing this. I was on the fence since Paula has a charming personality and I've used some of her recipes which I still will use. After reading quite a few pages, I am shocked at how horrendous the claims are.

I imagine Ms. Jackson stayed employed with them because she needed the job but personally I don't think I could stay in a situation like that. I'd also be very vocal about it, but curious why she did stay so long before blowing the whistle. Maybe if I read further I would discover why.

Paula Deen's brother Bubba (what a horrible nickname) is quite the asshole.

I got to about page 16.  That was pretty horrible. "Bubba" sounds like the most colossal dickhead ever.  And Paula Deen is no princess.

 1.  Not sure why Paula Deen is being sued...the brother's restaurant is its own corp with her as a shareholder..she isn't even on the board.

2.  I might could buy into some of this if there were EEOC complaints filed.

3.  If this was going on for years as suggested, where are the other employee complaints?  Where are the multiple EEOC complaints and why isn't this a class action suit?

4.  Why would you work somewhere for years if this MANY things were going on?

5.  If you read her deposition the opposing attorney walks her right into what he wants her to say regarding the wedding.

6.  Bubba owned the restaurant...if he wanted to look at porn all day that is his choice...porn is legal.  It is his restaurant, if he wants to be a drunk and send it down the tubes that is his deal.  If he is being abusive....call the police.

7.  I don't care what kind of wedding someone has...there have been all kinds of ridulous themed weddings.  As far as I am concerned they are between the bride/groom and whoever is willing to participate in pulling it off.

After reading this, and her deposition I am convinced that someone is conducting a smear campaign.
