So, Apparently God Doesn't Love You If You Are Fat.

I'm watching a documentary on the History channel right now for lack of anything better on, and as it turns out, it's quite interesting. This is a documentary on the 7 Deadly Sins, the particular one I'm watching right now is on Gluttony. According to scripture, if you are obese, or addicted to food, you are thumbing your nose at God and gravely sinning, no matter what religion you are.

So, if you are a Christian, do you feel you are commiting a sin by being overweight? The bible says you are, do you agree? Do you have to be thin to be a good Christian, or is it ok to essentially live in sin by abusing the body God created in His image?

One of the many reasons I don't believe in "an all loving" God.

I think it means to take care of your temple. Anything in excess is not healthy or good for you.

I've heard this before. I think it's an individual thing. I liken it to porn. I like to watch porn with my husband. I see nothing wrong with it. My ex-husband was addicted to porn. Totally different and unhealthy for all involved. I think people can be overweight or obese and be "addicted" to food in a very unhealthy way. Others it is just genetic or a medical issue. I try not to make judgment calls because I don't live their life.

But this isn't a judgement call for you or I to make, thats the point here. This is in accordance to the bible. If you are a Christian who says that the bible is literal, and you live by the word of it, is it a sin to over eat and be over weight?

 You obviously misunderstand.

Anyone who KNOWS the scriptures knows that there is deliverance from all sins.  God doesn't hate you because you are fat, or a thief, or an adulterer, or sexually immoral, or a murderer....HE just has a better way to live and it's up to you to take it.

Sure, you can live fat and die young.  You can live drunk and die young. You can murder someone and get whacked in return.  You can engage in unsafe sex and get diseases.  But you don't have to do that.  There is deliverance.

Yes, I am aware that my love of food is a sin.  I'm working on it.

God still loves me even if I am gluttonous.

I brought this up once when a clearly overweight person was protesting a gay man's funeral and saying God hates sinners...I was like Oh hon, have you stepped on a scale lately.

Are you trying to say it is possible to be a good Christian and also to be a porn watcher?

I think like the Bible says, it's between the person in question and God. Maybe it is and maybe it isn't. Others may vehemently disagree with me but, when Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, he said love The Lord your God and love your neighbor as yourself. That's it. It's a personal commandment that gives no room for judging others.
