Should teachers be forced to comply with a dress code?

Public school teachers in WV are suing because the school board instituted a dress code for its teachers to follow which prohibits them from wearing blue jeans, faded jeans, and shorts to work.

Do you think teachers should have to abide by a professional dress code?

Yes. It's their job to set the tone for the class room. Their dress is one way in which they set the standard and the atmosphere.

I have only seen teachers wear jeans on Fridays. Shorts should be appropriate and dressy/ business casual

I think it is more important for the teachers to follow the dress code than it is for the students to. Suing over it is ridiculous. Every job that I ever had I had to follow a dress code. I have only had one job where I was allowed to wear blue jeans and shorts. It was at a mom and pop gas station in a small (less than 1000 people) town.

Yes.  Jeans are allowed in my school district, however.

I think they should abide by a reasonable dress code. I don't see a problem with teachers wearing jeans in good condition, but I also don't see a problem with a dress code not allowing them.

The vast majority of workplaces have dress codes. Deal with it.

I don't care, just teach my kid and don't be a buffoon.
