The Secret Sex Lives Of Swingers Depicted In New Reality Show

'We Are Not Nymphomaniacs' Said One Couple

NEW YORK (WLNY) – A new reality show is documenting the sex lives of those in the swingers community.

Discovery Fit & Health’s show, Secret Sex Lives: Swingers, premieres Saturday. It follows five all-American couples from the Atlanta community as they juggle marriage, family commitments and careers.

One of the couples of the show, Rebecca and Chris, have been together for five years and are engaged to be married. They joined us on The Couch to give us some insight into the lifestyle, how how their choices have affected their relationships with families, friends and co-workers.

The couple said there are a lot of misconceptions about swingers, and the two of them made it clear that they are “not nymphomaniacs.”

“A perception is that every time we go out is that we’re automatically going to have sex with another couple if we’re going out for that kind of date,” said Rebecca. “It just doesn’t happen that way. If there’s not a connection, you don’t want to have sex with someone you don’t have a connection with. “

The couple has rules in place for how they select their partners without affecting their own relationship.

“Our main rule is that we both have to be into the other person,” said Rebecca. “We both have to be into it together. That way the jealousy doesn’t seep up and ruin the evening.”

To them, “swinging” is just the natural evolution of their relationship.

“We started talking about the fantasies that we had and the things that we would like to do and it would just grew from there,” said Chris. “We thought we’d heck out one of the local clubs.”But it has come at a price. Rebecca, who is struggling to reconcile her Christian faith with her sexual lifestyle, said her family has no spoken to her since she told them she was a swinger.

I find it interesting that she told her family. She had to know the response. We have a lot of swingers in the area I am in according to what I understand but they are very very secretive about it.

One of my childhood friends has been married for about 15 years and they are swingers.  She's very open and I've asked her what makes it work for them... she's a pretty interesting person.  It's not my thing because sex is very intimate for me, but not everyone feels that way about it (i.e. strip clubs are everywhere, porn is very popular...)  Funny, because when I read the post title and then saw the video images at the end of the post, I thought this was about people who swing, as in the dance, LOL.  It pays to read.

I know a couple that have been married for more than 20 years with one son in college and they are swingers for more than 10 years

They also go to hedonism every other year or so.

Whatever works for them

Yah, I think we all have fantasies about other people, dreams, etc. but usually when you are grown up and married, you keep the fantasies as just fantasies, not turn them into reality. This kind of thing is icky. Deliberately hanging out with another couple, even if you both agree to it, just seems really sleazy and unprincipled.

I think we should do a "Secret Lives of Mothers that Hang Out on The Internet Too Much Talking About Mostly Stupid Stuff All the While Accusing Each Other of Generalizing, Deflecting and Bad Grammar.''

What do you guys think?

I guess it would mostly be footage all of us staring into a screen for hours on end, giggling and/or farting occasionally. Probably be pretty boring.

Why does this post only have 6 replies but the other post about Christians doing it has over 30 replies?

Because being able to point out inconsistencies in other people's religion and behaviour is far more entertaining than listening to people talk about being engaged in something that's only moderately taboo.

I have a prediction. The woman who is referenced as a Christian? How much you want to bet this marriage never takes place? You cannot start a relationship or marriage when Tom, Dick, Harry, and Sally are all involved. I don't care what your beliefs are.
