# Okay all you smarty pants people out there. Riddle me this... UPDATED

Instructions.

Write a number sentence to solve the problem using either multiplication or division. Then draw a picture to show the new number sentence.

Problem:

32-8-8-8-8=0

( your number sentence must equal zero by either division or multiplication, and cannot have a multiple function math sentence. It's one or the other like (x)(y) = 0 or (x)/(y) = 0.

Then show me how to draw a picture showing the answer...

Annnnd go. I'm loosing it.

UPDATE...

Dumbest question ever.

32-8-8-8-8=0 (use multiplication or division to rewrite number sentence...)

0x0=0 or 0/0=0

kicker? There is no drawing for this one, or the other question where 0 was the answer. Which is why she didn't mean for the kids to circle and complete those two questions. She felt they were poorly written examples for this worksheet. Ya think?

Who writes these worksheets? Gahhhhhhh! Lol

If you want to do it step by step which is how we would have been taught-

32-8-8-8-8=0

32-32=0

0=0

0x0=0

you could also use

0/0=0

Still do not understand how just because you can get the same answer by solving the original equation (or number sentence as they are now called) and then using a multiplication, or division  function to get 0, helps them correlate the whole thing. It isn't helping me that's for darn sure.

I'm sitting in her class now listening to the morning math lesson. My head already hurts, think I need to go volunteer in the library until math is OVER! Lol

Thanks for the bump. I suck at math too, but this is crazy. My stepdad is an electrical engineer with a PHD, and even he couldn't figure out what the answer was they want.

Ughhhhhh!

Um true, but I need to have a multiplication or division number sentence that answers 0. I came up with 32x0 = 0. However, how do you show that in a drawing? I can easily show the divisible number sentences in drawings, not this one.

i dont understand what the actual problem is. 32-8-8-8-8=0.

32x0=0 as well though,doesnt it?

(32/(8X4))0 = 0  That's 32 divided by eight times four and the whole thing multiplied by zero equals zero.  Best I can do.  I have no idea what it means to draw a picture showing the answer.
