BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Starting Friday, Buffalo Police will post the photos and names of men arrested for patronizing prostitutes to their website.
Police say the 60 men were arrested following a sting operation that started in July. Detectives say they want to end the problem of prostitution, which police say Buffalo residents have complained about for years.
Police say if more men are arrested for being "johns," their pictures and names will be added to the website, and they are hopeful it will deter demand.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the wives aren't consenting....

I'm glad they're posting. Consenting or not, its still illegal.

Actually, in the Netherlands, trafficking, exploitation of minors, and other crimes associated with prostitution have gone up since legalization, not down. There are some very interesting studies about this. It seems that the legalized business provides an excellent cover for illegal activity and also that due to the legalized status, the country has become a destination for sex tourism, thus increasing demand and leading to an increase in trafficking and other crimes.
The most successful model has been in Norway and Sweden, where selling sex is legal, but buying it and profiting from others selling it (i.e., pimping) is not. Trafficking has gone down, and so has violence and other crimes committed against sex workers.
Quoting stormcris:Oh good grief....let consenting adults pay for sex if they want to, seriously if they handle legalization correctly the criminal enterprises would go down in this area.

The whole thing is stupid.
Quoting romalove:If they meet and decide to have sex for free it's not a crime.
Same scenario and money is exchanged and it's a crime.
That's just plain stupid.

But they can film it and call it a porno...also fine. You can't be paid for sex unless you make a video. Soooo freaking weird.

But while it is not legalized right now, a lot of the women are not consenting...they are victims of human sex trafficking.
