Do you find the "Dumbo" movie to have tinges of racism to it?

My son's current favorite movie is "Dumbo," and I posted about on it my facebook.

I had a couple of people shocked that I would let him watch it because it is so racist.  This led other people to explaining that the crows are actually articulate and the ones who get the plight of Dumbo, so it is far from racist.

I think there might have been 300 posts by the time this was done.

I don't find it to be, but apparently some people do.

LOL do yo have to ask?  Think about when this cartoon was made.  Of course it has racist undertones.  They jut didn't see it as racist.  we realize now that the stereotypes reak of racism lol

Never ceases to amaze me how people will see racism or some other kind of message in just about everything these days.

Yes, it is called racist by well-meaning idiots.

They are birds, for crying out loud.

Same with "A Song of the South," which was a nice Disney cartoon with a live black man in it playing Uncle Remus. Not racist, in my view.

Lol it's funny you posted this because my kids were watching it this weekend and I thought about the same thing. There is a stereotype potrayed using the crows characters and back when this movie was made those types of references were popular.

I don't think it's anything my kids would understand though.

Well, since anything and everything is deemed racist these days it doesn't surprise me but I watched it my entire childhood and it never once occurred to me that the crows were supposed to be anything other than crows.

A link for a breakdown of why people considered the movie racist:
