What good would it possibly do for white people to use the "n" word?

I don't think anyone should use the N word. Just like I dont think anyone should use the F word.

I don't know. I'm just curious.

My dd was playing music for my young ds, and he emerged from her room singing a song with the N word in it. We are white. I cringed, and said, "Aghk! dont use that word!"

and then I thought about it, and wondered why.

how are my white children supposed to sing music produced by black folk that use that in their lyrics?

Why would a white person want to use the N word?

None. But how come it works out that we just can't even if we wanted to?

(I have no desire to use it, I'm just asking)

No one should be using THAT word, it's disgusting and derogatory.

i think most whites would never use it. most, not all. there are some that probably still do. but i get this anxiety if i hear another white person use it. doesn't anyone else? i think whites are really freaky about it, but i hear it in musical lyrics written by blacks all the time. why is it ok for them to use it, and so publically in their songs, but we can't? I mean, I'd never sing a lyric out loud that had the N word in it. someone would probably tell me off if I did.

But people do. Black people use it in their songs. I've seen black people address each other as 'N" quite a few times in my life. Is it disgusting when one black guy goes up to another, probably a friend, and in a brotherly affectionate tone calls his friend an "N"? They don't seem to think it's disgusting.

ok i get that, but isn't that kind of insulting in a way too because of the stereotype about whites thinking all blacks are related? what i mean is, the stereotype is that whites think this way. i don't know if that stereotype is perpetuated with blacks, but whites perpetuate it amongst themselves.

It's kind of like how WE can bitch & moan about our own family/husband/sibling etc,

but if someone *not a family member* were to, we'd circle the wagons & get defensive and indignant.
