After the many posts downing / dooming the ACA.  What I never see are posts about pushing their political leaders who are running for the top spot next term ....to push for single payer universal healthcare.

WHY dont Americans want this enough to push through this mess and get someone in the job who does?

I come from a single payer universal healthcare country and it really is great...please Im curious as to why no one in the political field is touting this as a possible OVERTHROWER  to the hated ACA

You seem to think that our elected officials in the US actually do the work of the people, or actually stick to the campaign platform they are elected on. They don't. They don't give a rat's ass what the people want, they take money from lobbyists to vote how corporations and private interests want them to. Each person in this country could write a pointed letter to their senators, congressmen, and governors. Wouldn't do a damn bit of good.

Pretty much all of this.

I'd love to have universal healthcare. But I don't expect it to ever happen in my lifetime.

I don't know why. People scream about the quality of health care will be lower, about not wanting the government to control their care, about socialism. I don't get it because the health care outcomes are not that great compared to universal health care companies, the insurance companies control our care right now based on lining their own pocket and don't answer to anyone, and wtf socialism, really?

Because for some reason, some people think it is ok to have the government dictate who can be married, a woman's control over their own body, and poor people starving rather than help them is preferable than, but stronger gun legislation and wanting everyone to have healthcare is the line in the sand that can not be crossed

Oh God, why would I do that?  Our government can't manage the medical systems already under their control..VA, Tricare, Medicare and Medicaid...why on earth would we want them to have the whole thing.  Moreover, a single payer would nationalize our system, stealing these businesses from their rightful owners.

I am pushing my leaders, to downsize the govt to such a point that they don't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of unless the taxpayers say they can have it.

Why in the world I want the gov't can't do anything efficiently or cost effectively to be in charge of my health? Also, to pay for it our taxes, which are high enough already, would be even higher. We already have millions of people who effectively pay no federal income tax and I can imagine the screams of rage when they lose their huge tax refunds to pay for their healthcare.

I don't understand how a single payer system would steal businesses from their rightful owners? Do you mean Drs offices or ins companies?

Drs would still own their practices, they'd just bill a single payer (hence the term 'single payer system'), rather than this company, that company, the other company, and all at different rates.

Well the answer for me is I have seen the way the us government has taken care of those they already are paying the health services for and I don't want them to control my health care.  Often the government health programs are out of money, get services cut and they don't pay their bills.  That is why I don't want a sainge payer universal health care

I think youre wrong :-)  I think there is a lot of people willing and waiting for change, change can come in letters to your senators...get enough writing of the same want and senators do listen, after all its there job on the line.  I just dont think people know enough about UH to write to them about.

If Im wrong and only the backing of big bucks is what they listen to....then I think you are gone no matter who gets in.
