Warning about tracking software popping up on this site....

Just a warning ladies. A few of us have had a box popping open at the bottom of the page, asking us if we want to open a file. The file is usually named rs.js and acts like you opened an attachment and then it asks you if you want to open or download. Do neither. Click cancel and avoid it. It's tracking software that will install itself on your computer and then track every website you visit, every thing you do on the internet. Then that information is collected and sold to advertisers so they can spam the crap out of you with pop-up ads.

CM says it is aware of the issue, just wanted to warn y'all not to open that if you get a box like that or with any other file extension on this site. Having an ad blocker won't keep it from popping up, so don't think you're protected if you have one.

I also reported it to CM they haven't blocked it. It appears to be from CM.

Right. I suspect it is a program they installed, which is why nothing is being done about it. Lots of websites have similar tracking programs. I dislike it. Too many issues going on with this site lately, from tracking software to pop up ads that pop open and stay open whether you've clicked on them or not. It's becoming very user unfriendly.

I couldn't get this to work for me. What is it?

This is a legitimate form of advertising. It shouldn't spam you, but the ads that are already placed on the page will be personalized. I was getting a Panera ad earlier and was on their site a couple days ago.

I don't consider it legitimate when it installs tracking software on my computer without my consent. It then tracks everywhere I go on the internet, which includes when I visit places like my bank or my credit card websites. That is unacceptable to me.

Lightbeam.  I will do a screenshot of it and put it on.

Thank you!

This isn't the only tracking software like this. I got a different one when I was visiting a job website not too long ago. I can't remember the  name of the extension, though.
