I am watching POV on PBS but caught it after it started. The backdrop is the wall and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict over it, and the focus is on Palestinian demonstrations, from the Palestinian perspective, in one particular village. This is hard to stomach. It is just so awful. They just showed a close up of a Palestinian 11 yr old boy killed by an Israeli sniper. Dead eyes open. I will never get that image out of my head. Poor kid.
I am digressing from my original point before I even make it. Sorry ladies. The reason I started this post was to ask if Israeli soldiers really arrest children who demonstrate at the wall? There was a group of maybe 20 kids who were demonstrating at the wall and someone from the back started throwing rocks. I think it was an adult, to be honest, but the subsequent mayhem makes it hard to be sure since I can't rewind. Anyway, Israeli soldiers start going door o door, pulling out young boys. One of them was in the demonstration and they put him in the back of a vehicle and several Israeli soldiers climb in after him. He couldn't be but 10 or 11. What happens to these children? How do I find out more? Can one be pro Palestine without being anti Israel? I am so conflicted about this but the more I learn, the more I support Palestine's cause and I can't help but see Israel as an interloper. I know this is not a popular opinion so I expect to get trashed. I know that I am shamefully ignorant about both sides of the conflict so I expect to get schooled, and welcome it. Sorry this post is all over the place:/

You're welcome. I can't understand why they  (Israel) doesn't go the peaceful route and just give the Palestinians a place to call their own, it would go a long way toward bringing peace to the region.

Start with If Americans Only Knew, available on youtube and Netfix too, I think.

Read about Norman Finkelstein and try to get your hands on some of his books, view interviews of him in the media, etc. having to do with this topic.

Do the same with Noam Chomsky.

Check out sites like http://www.endtheoccupation.org, http://electronicintifada.net, https://freepalestinemovement.org, and http://www.al-awda.org, just for starters.

Thank you, Goodwoman! I was really expecting some backlash for this post but everyone has been very open and kind and I appreciate it. The film itself was just heartbreaking. I had really felt a connection with the film maker and at the end there was a 'blurb' about how he was hit with a stun grenade on the last night of filming or something, but that his camera was not damaged and it is still filming to this day. I took that to imply the filmmaker himself did not survive:( I don't know what calibre weapon a stun grenade is so the ending confused me but that is the only conclusion I can draw. It was a powerful film. I hope PBS will re-air it so I can watch the entire thing.

Why backlash? Most American Jews do not sympathize with how Israel has been handling things for a long while.
