I "buy" my son's friends and I don't care.

Side note *My 8yo ds has high functioning autism*

I am so happy! After years of disappointment and frustration, ds finally has Friends! We met this family with three boys last summer. Ds played with them on and off during the break but there were some communication problems and that stopped. But he's improved a lot since then so I thought I'd give it another try.

A couple weeks ago, I sent him over to their street loaded down with nerf guns. They boys instantly surrounded and him and the game was on! He came home dirty, sweaty and had the biggest grin on his face. Then ever since I  bought some real walkie talkies, the kids have been at our house almost every day asking to play. I know their sudden interest has more to do with his toys, than him but I don't care. Seeing my baby's face light up when they come knocking, is priceless.

Seriously!?

No, just kidding. And just because the toys brought them in, if he was unbearable to be around, they wouldn't stay and play with him and they wouldn't come over! You've obviously got a pretty awesome kid!

Lol!

That is true, huh. Thank you for that :-) Even though I say I don't care, it's nice to be reasured, lol.

He is a great kid too, just a little hard to get to know. But once you do, you have a loyal friend.

I hope they stay friends.  Learning to keep friends is a hard thing for autistic kids, even harder than making friends.  Good luck to your kiddo.
