A Houston-area father fatally shot a 17-year-old boy who was inside his teen daughter's bedroom early Thursday morning, MyFoxHouston.com reported.

The father, who was not identified, was notified by one of his children that there was someone in his 16-year-old daughter's room, the report said. He reportedly found his daughter in bed with the teen.

The confrontation occurred around 2:20 a.m. The father had a gun and asked the teen to identify himself, police said, according to the report. His daughter reportedly told her father that she did not know the teen and that the two were not in bed.

The father said he told the teen not to move, but reportedly saw the teen reach for something, at which point police say the father opened fire. The teen did not have a gun. His daughter later confessed that she did indeed know the teen, the report said.

The father was taken by ambulance from the home for treatment of an unrelated medical situation. So far no arrests have been made

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- A Spring-area dad fatally shot a teen boy he found in his daughter’s bedroom early Thursday morning, deputies said.

The shooting happened inside a home on Bridgestone Ridge near Bridgestone Path.

Harris County Precinct 4 Deputy Constables were the first to respond after someone called 911 around 2:30 a.m. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the shooting.

Investigators said the dad accused in the shooting woke up to find the male teen in his 16-year-old daughter’s bedroom.

“There was some type of altercation, and the father shot the male one time,” said Sgt. Ben Bell with the sheriff’s office. “The 17-year-old male is deceased inside the house.”

No other injuries were reported, but the father was transported to the hospital to be checked out for medical reasons as he complained that he was not feeling well. Constables said the dad appeared to be on several medications.

Constables said the investigation was still underway early Thursday, and no charges had been filed in the case.

Guns!!!

Most normal people would talk and explain, escort the teen out the door, not shoot.

What is it about Texas ( and Florida) that the first thought among most men is "Grab the gun and shoot" ????

Did we read the same story? This happened because the daughter insisted she didn't know the boy - that there was a strange young man in her bedroom.

I am a Home Schooling, Vaccinating, Non spanking, Nightmare Cuddling, Dessert Giving, Bedtime Kissing, Book Reading, Stay at Home Mom. I believe in the benefit of organized after school activities and nosy, involved parents. I believe in spoiling my children. I believe that I have seen the village and I do not want it anywhere near my children. Now for the controversial stuff:  we're Catholic, we're conservative, and we own guns (now there's no need to ask, lol).             Aimee
