Straight from the Tea Party Playbook: Indian Politician Says ‘Raped Women Should be Hanged’ (Video)

Two high-ranking Indian politicians have outraged people across the world with their accusation that raped women deserve to be hanged as well.

Abu Azmi, a senior member of India’s Socialist Party, told local news station NDTV, “Rape is punishable by hanging in Islam but here, nothing happens to women, only to men. Even the woman is guilty.”

Azmi continued, “Any woman if, whether married or unmarried, goes along with a man, with or without her consent, should be hanged. Both should be hanged. It shouldn’t be allowed even if a woman goes by consent.”

Azmi’s comments were supported by the party’s leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. According to Yadav, men convicted of rape should be forgiven because “boys will be boys.”

Yadav also made a statement that suggested women often lie and cry rape. “Following a girl-boy fight, the girl complains she was raped.”

Yadav, who is running for Prime Minister, said he would abolish the death penalty for rape.

The comments are eerily similar to one made by a Tea Party member, who called for women to be equally punished as men if they need to get an abortion when raped. Scottie Hughes, “news” director of the Tea Party News Network, believes that life begins at conception, and thus any and all abortion should be punishable under the law.

[box type="shadow"]John Fugelsang asks the deranged tea partier, “Let’s say Roe v. Wade is overturned and abortion becomes illegal. If a woman is raped and she goes to a doctor, and the doctor terminates the pregnancy – Please tell me who deserves the longest jail sentence? The rapist, the doctor or the woman? In order.”

Tea Party nit-wit Scottie Hughes answers, “Across the board.”

“All three of them?” Fugelsang asks.

“Go for it!” Said Hughes.[/box]

Watch the news report below on Abu Azmi stating that women should be hung for being raped or having consensual sex outside of marriage.

Well I wonder if people are going to be offended by being smeared ... to equate the fact that a tea party person thinks "life begins at conception" with "women should be hanged for being rape."

Wow, I even think that a bit of a reach.

He's already tried to deny he said that and backpedaled. His son and daughter in law shamed him for it, rightly so. Chances are his political career is over. That's society's way of taking care of morons like this in most places, just like Todd Akin torpedoed his own career with his "legitimate rape" rape comments and John Koster, a Republican candidate in Washington's 1st District, admitted later that his use of the words "incest is so rare" and "rape thing" in a discussion cost him lost the election.

HUGE reach and massive over generalization, absolutely.

The story has zero to do with the Tea Party and it is abhorent that you are trying to link the two.  Dirty partisan politics at it's best.
