Or, if your child saw this book at the library, bookstore, etc...

Would you be ok with them reading this book?

Would you want to "Opt" them out of reading this book?

Discuss...

Kind of a spin off of "would you let your child read the 19 minutes book "

and the discussion going on about Rush's book receiving an award.

That wasn't the question, but why couldn't you to answer this one like you did the other "would you let your child read..." Question?

Whe he is old enough to think critically, I will not censor anything he wants to read so yes, I would let him.

yes, that IS the question, right there in the title.

why couldn't I to answer?

I don't believe I stated there what I personally would do.

If the teacher demanded it, no.  If she wanted to read it on her own , that is fine.

The questions

Would you want to "Opt" them out of reading this book?

I get it, you don't want to have to own an answer.  So, you don't.No worries.  Run along.

19 Minutes, is not appropriate for the age group that Rush Limbaugh's book is aimed at

If this was assigned reading at my kid's school, I'd be surprised.  Because, honestly, I thought our school system was better than that.

If my child wanted to read it on his own, I'd read it with him, and we'd discuss the book together.  It would have to be a library copy.  I absolutely refuse to do anything that would deliberately line that man's pockets.  And I'd get a private kick out of using a socialist institution - the library! - to read his book.

As a side note, I read a lot of books when I was a kid that had undertones that I now realize I don't particularly approve of.  But as a kid, that didn't stop me from enjoying them, and, as a parent, I try not to politicize everything if I can help it.   I think it's more important to emphasize critical thinking skills in your children than it is to try and control every little piece of content that comes into their environment.
