Would you let your 14 year old go the lake with other kids without an adult?

also....age means nothing to me.  Maturity and common sense...that means so much more.

Good point.

I trust my kiddo and I trust her friends.  It's others I am not too keen on.

I don't like the idea of them being there without an adult they know somewhere around.

That and there are rocks they jump off of.  Not going to happen unless there is someone there to spot them.

Of course my kiddo is telling my I am being over protective.  After all, all her other friends are allowed to go it alone.  Well, not really but I guess what their parents don't know won't hurt them??

My gut tells me no so I've stuck with that.  For now.

I said no but honestly it would depend on a number of factors.  How far away the lake was, how they were getting there, if they would be in a park or just off somewhere where other adults may not be present.

My initial reaction was "no" but then I started thinking back, I grew up a block off the lake, we were ALWAYS at the lake and none of our parents would tag along.   We were good kids and if I trusted that my child had good sense to hang out with good kids I may trust them.

I said no to 14... If she were 16 and drove herself, yes. I would want her to be able to leave if she had to (I guess if she had a close friend that could drive).

I'm going to go with no but I also don't have a child close to approaching teen years, lol

Depends on the other kids. Peer influence makes morons out of even the most responsible kids.

I probably would but my DS is only 7 so its hard to imagine him as a teen.

Holiday weekend no way unless it was in walking distance so I knew I could check on her or she could run home if there was an issue.
