Poll

Question: I control my kids' reading material....

Options:

Completely, they cannot choose a book without me being there and choosing it for them.

Somewhat, I must approve anything they want to read.

Somewhat. I try to ensure that what they read is appropriate for their age, but some stuff might slip through.

They read what they want, but I like to be aware of it.

Whatever they want to read, I don't interfere with it.

Who reads?

Other. As always.

I'm not talking about little kids, I'm talking about age say, ten and up.

How much do you control their reading material?

No I don't. They can read what they want. I do like to be aware of what they're reading so if they have questions about something I can discuss it with them.

We read a lot of books together. But do focus on appropriate books, or books we read as a family.   Between their cousins, who are spread out all over the world and our family (aunts, uncles, etc) Last year we started a family book club.  It makes Christmas shopping easier and we ALL talk about the books online, texting, etc.  It's actually been more fun than any of us had imagined.

In terms of books, I censor/control nothing.  I do control the Internet content my son accesses to a degree, though.

I let them read whatever they want.  I'm aware of what they are reading because their books are always laying all over the house.  They know what's appropriate and what's not

I always kept an eye on what my girls were interested in reading.  It just doesn't seem right to let them read just any thing.  Magazines included.

I will not censor them. However my oldest is 3 right now so I've got time.

I'm amazed at how many parents censor tv but not books. I censor both.
