"gutless"? not really.  sometimes shit just gets out of hand and it is better to lock it up (or even delete it) so it doesnt get worse or rehashed again at some later date.
(disclaimer... i dont know what this is referring to lol) AND i dont think a poster owes anyone anything.. like its their post.. delete or lock or whatever they want.  others can repost it if they want to continue the conversation

I think it depends. If someone was being an asshole from the get go and locked it because people were calling them out, yeah that's pretty lame. But if it was just a general thread that turned heated because of other members, I think that's okay. I think admins may even do that.

This! People lock for the same reason they delete and its not because things got out of hand. People lock/delete because they aren't getting the responses they wanted and people are actually....gasp...Debating With Them ((dun, dUN ,dunnnnnn)). Debating in a f-ing debate board/group, the horror!!!
