Man Found Guilty of Stabbing 'Messy' Wife 84 Times & Dressing Her Like a Pig
A 67-year-old New Jersey man was convicted this week for the 2010 murder of his wife, who was stabbed 84 times with an 8-inch kitchen knife and put into a pig mask. Apparently Anthony Novellino didn't think his wife Judith Novellino was a very good housekeeper.
They had actually just gone through a messy divorce when Judith returned her Danville, New Jersey marital home to gather her things. Also messy, according to both lawyers on the case, was the couple's home. Anthony had sent photos of their scattered home to friends, and Judith's allegedly poor housekeeping skills was a big source of tension in their split.
Anthony was convicted for "murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a weapon, hindering his own apprehension and tampering with evidence." He hasn't been sentenced yet, but could face life in prison for his crime.
His lawyer, Michael Priarone, has said he will no longer represent him, so take that for what you will. He had tried to get the charge downgraded to manslaughter by way of temporary insanity, but to no avail.
Prosecutors made their case that "the grisly, calculated nature" of the murder was undeniable. Prosecutor Margaret Calderwood said a person would have to be well aware of what they were doing to "methodically go to the closet and pull out a pig mask and put it on [the victim]."
Dang, this guys sounds like he was a real peach to live with. No wonder she gave up on the housework and eventually got divorced.
What kind of sentence do you think this crime should get?
