Pro-Lifer Suggests Abortion To Blame For Robin Williams' Depression

The pro-life site Life News on Tuesday published a piece suggesting that an abortion in actor Robin Williams' past may have contributed to the depression he struggled with throughout his life.

The story, titled "Robin Williams: Abortion of His Unborn Child May Have Added to Struggle With Depression," surfaced part of a biography of Williams that mentions that his girlfriend had an abortion in the 1970s.

"Many are aware that Williams struggled for years with serious addiction issues. However a lesser known fact is that one of those demons was an abortion that took place in the 1970’s," Life News' Kevin Burke wrote.

....

The writer analyzed Williams' battle with addiction and discussion of depression, looking for signs that it was in some way linked to the abortion.

....

Burke then reimagined the quote to be about abortion and wrote that "Williams may have been making a thinly veiled reference to what society tells us does not exist…his post abortion trauma and complicated grief."

LifeNews Fap Fantasy Time: Let’s Just Say Robin Williams Killed Himself Over Abortion

a site can dream can't it?

lifenews' nose is one mile long

Did you get your fill of people being terrible (hi, Rush Limbaugh!) and using Robin Williams’s death for their own means (lookin’ at you, douche-y Minnesota GOP guy!) yesterday? Haha too bad because we are going to cram even more terrible down your throat, because that is how we do. We’re like the opposite of a public service, basically, so let’s check in on the horrible people who think that maybe Robin Williams killed himself because of abortion. Yep, abortion.

The pro-life site Life News on Tuesday published a piece suggesting that an abortion in actor Robin Williams’ past may have contributed to the depression he struggled with throughout his life. [...]

According to an excerpt from Andy Dougan’s book, “From Robin Williams: A Biography,” quoted by Life News, the actor said that he and his girlfriend decided she should have an abortion “because we were too young and it wasn’t right.”

Burke then asked if this contributed to Williams’ battle with depression.

Are you thinking that sounds like too scummy a bit of speculation even for LifeNews? You may be right, because they’ve since yanked the post and managed to get a cross-linked site to pull it down also, but they forgot to yank it from their own site search results, so they didn’t memory hole it entirely.

Google_Custom_Search

Now, given that Robin Williams never said anything remotely like “gosh, that abortion my girlfriend had 35 years ago has haunted me my whole life,” how did LifeNews get to this speculation? By playing a game of “let’s pretend.”

Burke included a part of an interview Williams gave to the Guardian in 2008:

“You know, I was shameful…You do stuff that causes disgust, and that’s hard to recover from. You can say, ‘I forgive you’ and all that stuff, but it’s not the same as recovering from it,” Williams said in 2008 about how he behaved while drinking.

Burke then reimagined the quote to be about abortion and wrote that “Williams may have been making a thinly veiled reference to what society tells us does not exist…his post abortion trauma and complicated grief.”

Or he could have been talking about his drinking SINCE HE WAS TALKING ABOUT HIS DRINKING YOU A*******.

We’re kinda surprised this got yanked down, actually. This is the site that makes shit up out of whole cloth about how abortion and breast cancer are related, so we didn’t really think they had much in the way of scruples in the lying their pants off department. Making shit up that harms potentially all women by telling them they will get CANCER if they have an abortion? Totes cool. Making shit up about Robin Williams? A bridge too far. Glad LifeNews has its priorities straight.

Wow, that is kind of far-fetched, isn't it? Depression and addiction are more about biology than actual things that happen in people's lives.

I don't find their thinking surprising, given the way that site twists things.  It is pathetic and crass, though.

think it's a damn shame that  people  would  publish  trash  like that  on a man's death.   Don't theyrealize  how  hurtful  that shit  is to their family?

I guess they can see it that way. Like most other pro-lifers they could care less about the living breathing people their words may have an effect on.
