A woman who took a dare from her daughter and kissed a stranger at the Boston Marathon this year recently received a letter — from the man’s wife.

“I accepted my daughter’s good-hearted dare of reversing the Wellesley tradition,” Barbara Tatge told the Wellesley Townsman. “And a good natured man accepted my request for a photo. Moving forward I will revert to only kissing single men.”

After kissing him, Tatge attempted to identify the mystery man. Several national outlets picked up the story.

Soon after, the unidentified man’s wife responded, sending a letter to Tatge.

“We all thought this story was hilarious because it is just like my husband to do that,” the man’s wife wrote, according to the Townsman. “It was one of many memorable stories from a great weekend in Boston.”

“When this story aired on the news we were pretty surprised.”

“When this story aired on the news we were pretty surprised,” she added. “For me, I’m not mad. Believe me, our friends have gotten a lot of mileage out of this story and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them give my husband grief!”

“While this may not be the ending that you had hoped for, that spontaneous, silly moment in Wellesley captured the fun, energy and spirit of the Boston Marathon,” the man’s wife concluded. “I greatly admire your spunk and courage and wish you many happy races in the future. Congratulations on your Boston finish!”

The woman and her husband asked the Townsman to remain anonymous.

Tatge, who just turned 50 and has survived a rare form of cancer, told the Townsman she plans to run the race again.

“I won’t be kissing random strangers along the route,” she told the newspaper.

Funny...if this was reversed the man would probably be charged with sexual assault.

She asked his permission to kiss him and he said sure.

How in any way is that "sexual assault"??

I don't think he intended for the quick kiss to be shared with the world.  I am glad his wife was a good sport.

To defend herself and her honor to her husband, of course. :P
