NYC Offers Post-Election Therapy to Workers Stressed Out Over Trump

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is creating a city-wide safe space for municipal employees, offering them therapy sessions to deal with election-related stress.

"Many New Yorkers may be feeling distressed or vulnerable following the election results. ... We have seen the concerns expressed on social media and we are monitoring them closely," the liberal mayor wrote in a recent email to city workers.

According to the New York Post, workers were directed to mental health resources available through a half-dozen agencies.

"The post-election period has been anxiety-producing for many people, understandably. When you throw the holidays into that, it can be a very difficult time for those coping with mental health challenges," a city hall spokesman said.

Hillary Clinton won nearly 80 percent of the votes in New York City, with Donald Trump only winning in the borough of Staten Island.

De Blasio met with Trump a week after the election and later declared that NYC will remain a "sanctuary" for illegal immigrants even if Trump moves to pull federal funds.

Laura Ingraham reacted this morning on "Fox & Friends," arguing that de Blasio is attempting to distract New Yorkers from other city problems, like homelessness and rising crime.

"How are we the country that took the beaches of Normandy if we need a therapy dog every time things don't go our way?" she asked.

Maybe Cafe Mom should do the same here. There seems to be a few posters who seem to be having meltdowns over this election.

I live in WNY, and we are subjected to NYC voting choices all of the time, and we don't need therapy. We also survived Hillary as Senator, and didn't need therapy.

Except the right didn't need safe spaces, coloring books, and safety pins.

I would have liked some hot cocoa once in a while though.

ETA: I am probably more right leaning in some respects, but mostly in the middle. So I will talk about either side equally.

I'm about to make my afternoon cup of tea, put the toddler for a nap and watch Homeland. This is one of my favorite things in winter.

And the left would have screamed it was racist and equated it to a klan meeting.

Mine too. I have my tea beside me. I'm all about the comfort food in the winter, soups, tea, chili. Hmm come to think of it maybe I've been self medicating with comfort food post election. LOL 😂
