Dems Introduce 5 Articles Of Impeachment Against Trump

Despite their party’s minority status on Capitol Hill, six House Democrats are pushing articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

As the Associated Press reported, the five articles were announced Wednesday by Rep. Steve Cohen, who sponsored the resolution.

“Given the magnitude of the constitutional crisis, there’s no reason for delay,” the Tennessee lawmaker said.

Cohen was joined by five other Democrat congress members, Al Green of Texas, Marcia Fudge of Ohio, Luis Gutierrez of Illinois, John Yarmuth of Kentucky and Adriano Espaillat of New York.

Green said the Constitution provides for impeachment in a clause that “was drafted for a time such as this and a president such as this.”

He previously launched his own impeachment effort, which hinged on Trump’s supposed culpability for heightened racial discord in America.

The Hill provided details about the allegations made in the most recent impeachment proposal.

Among the five actions deemed worthy of impeachment, the legislators wrote that Trump is guilty of obstruction of justice for firing then-FBI Director James Comey in the midst of the agency’s investigation into allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Other articles relate to Trump allegedly profiting from his position, as well as undermining the nation’s news media and justice system.

While these six lawmakers serve as the most recent example, they are hardly the only Democrats in Congress calling for Trump’s impeachment.

As The Western Journal reported, Rep. Maxine Waters of California used her acceptance speech at Glamour’s recent Women of the Year Awards to lead a chant of “Impeach 45.”

Democrat Rep. Brad Sherman, also of California, is pushing his own proposal calling for Trump to be impeached in connection with his decision to fire Comey.

The effort has gained significant support outside of Congress, too, most notably through a petition drive and advertising campaign funded by billionaire activist Tom Steyer.

According to WBBH, Steyer has committed over $20 million to the mission, and claims 2 million people have signed his petition.

Democrat leaders in the House, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) have spoken out against impeachment efforts this early in the Trump administration.

“There are a large number of Democrats that believe this president ought to be impeached, we have just made a judgment that the facts aren’t there to pursue that,” Hoyer said in light of Cohen’s announcement Wednesday. “There are a large number of Democrats that believe this president ought to be impeached, we have just a made a judgment that the facts aren’t there to pursue that.”

Her who ? This is about Trump...

His tried and true tactics of "point the other way" when something comes up that is about to destroy him only works for so long...

Sooner or later, the spotlight ends up on him, and it's not going away.

They’re too impatient. You can’t just invent reasons to impeach a president. He was completely in his authority to fire James Comey, for example. I bet they have people digging, digging, digging into constitutional and law books to find something he’s guilty of.

The jury is out on this.

In general, a president does have the authority to fire the FBI director, even if it is rarely done.

However, he doesn't have the right to fire the FBI director to impede an investigation that he doesn't like.  That's obstruction of justice, which is not within his powers.

Since he is on record saying that he did fire him to stop the Russia investigation, there's a possibility, probably a good one, that this would constitute obstruction of justice.  We have someone trying to figure that out right now.

Why do you say that?
How do democrats " defy" the constitution?
