We try not to sling insults at people for sharing an opinion with which one disagrees.

My good friend does mission work there and is married to a Haitian. She described extreme poverty and lack of resources. That’s pretty shitty and I have no problem acknowledging that.

I also support open borders so you can point your gun somewhere else.

Then they should probably get all offended and stay home

Issue solved.

Quoting Harlot:

Well since you've so much experience then you realize that him saying he doesn't want people from shithole countries to move here or people from Haiti to move here is an insult to the people.

Quoting Blackburn3: Of course it's not my only experience as I have keep
In contact with the people I meet that are here in the US and still there in Haiti never made me a expert but I have more knowledge than someone whom has never meet someone from Haiti. Again that isn't the exact point but it's not about the people it's about the country.

Quoting Harlot:

Ok well this discussion is about Trump. That's how you should have realized. Anyway, one month on a mission trip to Haiti does not an expert you make. You've been there, that's great. But, if that's your only experience with Haiti, you are in no way qualified to speak on any Haitian's behalf.

Quoting Blackburn3: I am trying to be defensive but how in the world would I know you were talking about Trump after I responded how Haitians say the exact same thing about their country etc. so sorry but reading your statement assumes that I'm the one that's being ignorant I was just informing you that I have actually been there and have first hand knowledge. Have a good night.

Quoting Harlot:

lol I was referring to Trump! You're awfully defensive. Also, you've seen people's reactions to being told they come from or live in "shithole" countries...they've been flooding social media defending themselves and their countries. So...no, people aren't going to agree with Trump and say "yeah you're right, our country sucks and our people are without value."

Quoting Blackburn3: I have been there a year after the earthquake on a missions trip for a month so I am not ignorant but thanks for the assumptions and judgements.

Quoting Harlot:

Yes I'm going to tell you that people in Haiti are and should be proud of their country. It's ignorant to judge it without knowing it.

Quoting Blackburn3: Haiti might have a wonderful rich history but they are ranked the poorest county in the world, plus a corrupt Government. We were seriously going to tell me that patients that come to this country are going to tell you it's a awesome wonderful country. No they're going to agree it's not so great. The president did not make public comments with that it was a private conversation no he shouldn't use that wording if that is what he said which is been not confirmed yet he should not have said it but it wasn't a lie and he never referred to the people coming over here. Agree to disagree

Quoting Harlot:

Haiti has a rich and complex history and is populated by some of the world's most tenacious and inspiring people. We would be lucky to have some of those Haitians immigrate here.

But Trump stating that he didn't want to have people from certain "shithole countries" move here is obviously implying that the people from those countries are not valuable. And he's very wrong, not to mention it's highly unprofessional and undiplomatic for a President to say that.

Quoting Blackburn3: Who said I was a Trump supporter ?? I support who is president at the time sorry but not a "Trump supporter" but if I was what does that have anything to do with what I said. Hell I didn't even defend what the president said I was just stating a fact Haiti is not that great of a country and certainly wouldn't be my high list of countries to want to go live in. Again has nothing to do with the people.

Quoting AnotherKim:

Haiti needs money to recover from all it's been through  Sending people back now would only cause MORE issues for the country   Trump calling the country a shit hole and implying that Haitian refugees are lesser to Norwegians is WRONG  Period

I swear to God, Trump and his supporters make this country look more stupid everyday

Quoting Blackburn3: This really irritates me. Is anyone saying Haitian people are shitty ?? No, is their Country great absolutely not !! Is it the Haitian people's fault no but what is wrong with telling the truth. Otherwise why would they want to come here if their country is so great you know what why don't we tell the refugees that are over here to go back to their own country because it's so awesome.

Quoting AnotherKim:

She probably couldn't find Haiti on a map

Quoting Debmomto2teens: Excuse me? That is really ignorant. Haiti is a beautiful country with beautiful people living there. They have had many natural disasters and a corrupt government which has led them into poverty.

Quoting UpSheRises: Hati is kind of a shithole.

I don't think that is the issue, though. When you look at Trump's African and Haitian comment in juxtaposition with his subsequent comment about Norway, it becomes a race issue.

His comments were about the people (maybe even the quality of the people); it didn't have the depth of socio-economic policy analysis or actual immigration statistics IMO.

Exactly. Are we meant to believe that Trump was suggesting he wanted Norwegians to move here so we could learn and use their more Socialist policies? Or because he's picturing tall blondes?

Did you see this on Twitter?:

Quoting SlightlyPerfect: My favorite part was when he said, "Jesus." That face!
Quoting cgd5112: Here’s the YouTube link. The best part us about 2.5 minutes into his commentary. If you have time, watch the whole 5 minutes: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LagxU1Oq0Vw
Quoting Harlot:

I saw Cooper's and it was good. I really want to see Lemon. He kills me with his "don't eff with me" face. Could you be more specific about his interview so I know what to look for on YouTube?

Quoting cgd5112: Anyone watch Anderson Cooper on CNN comment on this? He was there after the earthquake and reported on it. His commentary about the people he met, survivors as young as 5 w an extraordinary will to live, to help one another, was moving and sincere. Cuomo’s comnentary was also eloquent and on point. And lastly, D Lemon. His commentary after cutting off a rude/offensive trump defender was awesome!

Wait...wait...wait.... you tell her about slinging insults at people but it's totally okay to call a country a shithole if you are the president who is dealing with international relations and makes decisions that effect the world? Yes, the country is under unfortunate circumatances, as is the other countries that fall under his "shithole" comments, but i dont believe that any president should speak that way. It doesn't do anything good for anyone

If they weren't shithole countries, why are they flocking here?
