No. You have an initial background check. It’s just a simple one. And then you have the big security clearance check.
That’s what happened with my employer.
Initial check on credit and background and if there was nothing, you still got to work, and then if something comes up on your security clearance, you are out the door n

Quoting Sparkles4Lui: A background check is equal to a security clearance in government?

Quoting billsfan1104: This is pretty normal. They get temp security clearance and then when they finally are able to run the security clearance is when people are let go or stay on.
It happens at my job, where people have lied on their application and the employer doesn’t know until the clearance check is run.
This happens in all administrations. To just blame Trumps administration is wrong.

Don't some of these people need that clearance to effectively and successfully complete their jobs? Porter did-

Drain the swamp- either that or put a big, top tent over 1600 PA Ave. and sell tickets for admission- pay down that growing debt.

But Trump’s administration didn’t have this serial domestic abuser “out the door”, when a clearance check certainly would have flagged this and it’s being reported they knew about it for months.

The fox is guarding the hen house.

Quoting MsDenuninani:

"National security lawyer Mark Zaid, who represents government employees going through the security-clearance process, said it is not necessarily sinister that dozens of White House employees lack clearance. He said the Trump White House, in particular, might be going through the clearance process slowly because those working there have not previously been in government and their extensive foreign and business ties take additional time to explore. Zaid said people often operate with interim clearances for months."

This makes sense.  That said, it's concerning that people with extensive foreign ties are possibly handling sensitive classified information prior to being fully vetted.  Normally, I'd give the President the benefit of the doubt of being an honorable person who would never knowingly work with someone with a shady history, but. . .this is Trump.  He has absolutely worked with people with shady histories and not given two shits about the implications.

McGahn & Kelly knew last July when the restraining order was found.  they did nothing.  McGahn & Kelly knew last October when a former girlfriend working in the White House went straight to Kelly about it.  They did nothing.   McGahn & Kelly knew about it last December when the pictures were found.  they did nothing.

This is NOT routine & NOT normal.  They knowingly kept an abuser on the payroll and ignored everything they were told about him.

An abuser who did not possess the needed clearances to do the job-

WTF- there is no defending this.
