Hi!

Last night, both the House and Senate passed the $787 billion Stimulus Plan.

Some highlights of the plan:

*Tax cuts
*Longer term governemnt spending on public works projects
*Increased unemployment benefits
*New health care subsidies

*Restrictions on bonuses for executives at companies receiving bailout money

If you had the opportunity to vote for the Stimulus Plan, would you be for or against it?  Why?

I still don't know enough about this plan to say if I would or would not have voted.  When I have some time later, I plan on looking up more info on it.

Are you a mom looking to discuss modern day issues with a Christian persepective?

I wouldn't have, I don't see a lot in this that is going to help, but I see a lot that  makes me nervous about it.

Same here, I wouldn't have voted for it (at least for now).  I will have to do further research as well.

gotta be honest and say i really don't know ....  it's kind of complicated and controversial, and esp since almost all have voted down party lines, it makes me a bit suspicious...

Absolutely NO!!  How dare they sign a bill into law that they have not even read.  They should be ashamed of themselves!!! They are borrowing an astronomical amount of money (that our children and grandchildren will have to pay back) and they don't even know exactly what they bought.  Haste makes waste!!

There is no reason (other than wanting to hide questionable spending projects, that otherwise would never have passed) congress couldn't have written a bill that gave money for unemployment benefits, food stamps, tax cuts and infrastructure projects .  Both parties agreed on that much.  Then they could have meticulously went over the rest of the projects to make sure that OUR MONEY WAS WELL SPENT.

I'm furious!!!  I called my Senators and Congressman, and even though the majority of the calls where like mine ( I asked), against the bill, they all voted for it.

ARLENE SPECTOR YOU WILL NOT GET MY VOTE!!

What happened to the buck stops here.  Why are we passing on our problems that we created (with our greed, laziness, ignorance, etc...) to OUR CHILDREN.  They deserve better.

I totally agree. There is no way I would have voted for this thing, especially when NONE of the congressmen read it and it was pushed through so quickly.  I wont even mention trying to hide the beginnings of universal health care in a "stimulus" bill.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Ron Paul Unveils a REAL Economic Stimulus Plan

Four-pronged approach will strengthen the economy by reforming taxes, cutting spending, improving monetary policy and eliminating burdensome regulations

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“Real economic reform must address the underlying reasons for the current economic malaise,” said Ron Paul. “This plan is more than just a band-aid for our economy; it fundamentally reforms four areas where government policies are damaging our national economy. When enacted, my plan will provide both short-term stimulus, and lay the groundwork for long-term prosperity.”

The comprehensive economic revitalization plan is available online at: http://www.RonPaul2008.com/Prosperity.

The four areas that the plan covers are:

1. Tax Reform: Reduce the tax burden and eliminate taxes that punish investment and savings, including job-killing corporate taxes.

2. Spending Reform: Eliminate wasteful spending. Reduce overseas commitments. Freeze all non-defense, non-entitlement spending at current levels.

3. Monetary Policy Reform: Expand openness with the Federal Reserve and require the Fed to televise its meetings. Return value to our money.

4. Regulatory Reform: Repeal Sarbanes/Oxley regulations that push companies to seek capital outside of US markets. Stop restricting community banks from fostering local economic growth.

Congressman Paul has written or co-sponsored numerous bills to enact the policies in his plan. In Congress, he has been a champion of lower taxes and limited government.

Congressman Paul is the ranking member on the House Financial Services Committee's Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade, and Technology. In Congress, Dr. Paul has never voted for a tax increase or for an unbalanced budget.

No. i would never support anything that de-values our dollar and expands an already bloated federal government.
