Hot Topic (4/9): Is it okay to leave a sleeping baby at home alone?
I saw this in the DailyBuzz:
This Week's Secret:
"I leave my 5-month-old twins alone in the house while I drive my friend home. I'm only gone for five minutes and I know nothing will happen to them because they're sound asleep, and we live in a safe neighborhood." —anonymous

Would you ever leave your sleeping baby home alone?
What do you think of moms who do?
Would you do anything if you found out your neighbor left her sleeping baby home alone?
Would you ever leave your sleeping baby home alone? this is wrong on so many levels
What do you think of moms who do? I have so much to say but don't want to get into trouble.
Would you do anything if you found out your neighbor left her sleeping baby home alone? Without solid proof there is not much anyone can really do.
I couldn't do that! I would lose my mind wondering what could happen to them in those 5 minutes. It doesn't take 5 mintues for a housefire to start.... SCARY!

Honestly, I can't even believe this is a real question. Who in his/her right mind would leave a child home alone under ANY circumstance?! What would be so important that this woman would need to go visit her friend for? I can't think of anything that is worth my son's life.
Would you ever leave your sleeping baby home alone? NO! the closest thing to it would be when I take the trash outside but dont take more than 5 seconds to do that.
What do you think of moms who do? I think they need to get their heads checked so much could happen!
Would you do anything if you found out your neighbor left her sleeping baby home alone? if it was something that happened regularly I would report them.
I am LDS, been Married to a Marine for 4 yrs, mother of a 2 yr old girl, pregnant with #2.
I couldn't. I leave my son when I run next door to borrow something or get something, but that takes me less than 1 minute!!! I never leave him more than that.
Moms who leave their sleeping kids at home...well they probably have an older kid watching them, but kids shouldn't watch their siblings until they're 12.
And if I had a neighbor who did that, I would offer her to ask me to watch her kids if she really needed to leave that bad.
when I resonded I was thinking of my daughter who was 2 but if there are older siblings at home mature enough to watch them then I have no problem.

Ok...so look at it this way...maybe nothing would happen to your child in 5 minutes...but it only takes a split second to have a car accident...then 5 minutes turns to hours.
Moral of the story...I would NEVER leave a baby unattended while I left my house.
Would you ever leave your sleeping baby home alone?
Leave in my car no. Go to my neighbors house for something? yes My neighbor and i would put our kids down for naps and meet at our property lines and visit. It was great.
What do you think of moms who do?
I know women who do this and I do not judge them. They are great moms that love their children and they do things differently than me.
Would you do anything if you found out your neighbor left her sleeping baby home alone?
No.
Nooooooo way! Are you crazy?! Whoever leaves their babies alone, even for five minutes to drive somewhere...no,not a good idea
